Dallin Watene Zelezniak to Cowboys or Eels

Kiwis captain requests immediate release from embattled PanthersDallin Watene-Zelezniak has reportedly requested a release from Penrith. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has reportedly requested a release from Penrith. Axed former Penrith captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has reportedly requested an immediate release from the embattled Panthers so he can join a rival club before June 30.

The Daily Telegraph broke the news on Wednesday afternoon the incumbent New Zealand international fullback and skipper has asked to be allowed to walk away from his contract at the foot of the mountains. The Panthers later confirmed the player and his management had been granted permission to speak to other NRL clubs this week.“Earlier this week, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak’s management sought permission from Panthers to speak with other NRL clubs regarding Dallin’s immediate and future playing career,” a statement read.

“This permission was granted following discussions by the club’s retention and recruitment committee.” It comes a day after Watene-Zelezniak was dropped from the NRL team by coach Ivan Cleary as they desperately try to turn around some abysmal form on the field. The World Cup star has been linked to western rivals Parramatta, while the report also suggests North Queensland may be interested in his services. An immediate release would allow him to switch clubs before the transfer cut-off.

    Par(r)agraphs Monto!!!

    • I did a cut and paste job Parra fan! So blame Fox Sports who wrote the article. Yes I could have edited their grammatical error but couldnt be bothered. However, its still legible. Is that better, Parra Fan?

  • I'd take his brother aswell, both are upgrades over gjennings lol

  • last i seen him play he fumbled

    • Yeah..he was diabolical in the last 2-3 games I've seen him.

He seemed either rubbish or a man that wants out.

Going by last season's form, being NZ captain and only 23, I'd assume it's the latter.

  • This is 100% an upgrade on what we have.

  • If he wants to play fullback he'll go to North Queensland.

If he wants an easy move, i.e. he won't even have to move house. He'll come to Parra to play wing.
