Daily Telegraph: Tigers must release moses

WESTS Tigers fans should be ashamed. And if the club’s management has an ounce of respect left for Mitchell Moses it should grant him an immediate release to join Parramatta.Moses was subjected to the ultimate act of cowardice on Saturday night. It is alleged that a full can of beer was thrown at the departing local junior after the game at Leichhardt Oval. The incident prompted an immediate and furious response from Cronulla forward Andrew Fifita. The Tigers released a statement yesterday in which they said they were working with police and “do not condone crowd disturbances, or the throwing of objects on to the field”.The beer can that was thrown from the crowd at Mitchell Moses. But surely chief executive Justin Pascoe and chairwoman Marina Go must take charge today and bring about peace to what is obviously an increasingly hostile situation.Moses should be granted a release for the sake of everyone involved.Fans were also spotted holding disgusting banners at the game that included “Woods is a dog”, “Tedesco is a cock”, “No Dogs on the bus” and labelling Moses “slimy”.How can you attempt to justify this type of behaviour? While the fans’ frustration is understandable, they need to take a look at other clubs. There aren’t similar scenes facing other departing players such as Cronulla’s Jack Bird, Melbourne’s Cooper Cronk or Brisbane’s Ben Hunt. This comes just a week after Pascoe and Go attempted to calm the growing anger with another statement asking fans to be more positive after Aaron Woods was booed before his man-of-the-match performance against Canterbury.Tigers fans show off their feelings on the hill during NRL game between the Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks. Picture: Gregg PorteousThe concern is what will come next if the Tigers’ management doesn’t bring about a resolution now. What fans must understand is that Moses and the other outgoing players are not at all responsible for this mess.In Woods’ interview on Fox Sports yesterday following the announcement that he will be joining the Bulldogs on a four-year deal, the Tigers skipper blew the lid on the lack of support he had received from management.Woods spoke about how he could no longer tolerate the ongoing controversies, and claimed he didn’t receive any support for “three weeks” following the sacking of Jason Taylor.Without knowing who was going to be the long-term coach, the club expected him to agree to a three- or four-year deal.Moses has already asked for a release on several occasions and you can bet he will be doing the same thing today. And how could anyone blame him for wanting out?Mitchell Moses deserves the release he’s asked for.Ivan Cleary has steadfastly refused to grant Moses’ request, saying Moses will remain at the club until the end of the season. What fans must understand is that the club pulled the offer that was originally put to Moses after Luke Brooks agreed to a new deal.It was Cleary who decided Moses was not a priority and the club would focus on trying to retain Woods and Tedesco. The Tigers then signed Josh Reynolds on a contract reportedly worth a similar amount to the offer Moses had taken away from him.Pascoe, Cleary and Go should see this as a chance to calm the tension. They have already said they didn’t want Moses after signing Reynolds on huge money. Why should Moses be put through any further humiliation?

  • When Tigs get LoLo from Warriors shortly we will get Moses. Won't be long.
  • Cleary is a selfish dictator who wants everyone on his gestapo bus even if they don't want to be. He's a control freak.
  • Tedesco is a Cock is pretty clever , in fact other than the boring Moses one they're all pretty good I must say . Maybe we should all grab a Wests jersey and hit the next Tigers game and give Moses some stick . Might accelerate the process a bit .
  • Moses is the least to blame of the 3 going as the story says.

If Wests had managed to keep 3/4 then their fans wouldn't have be this pissed.

To be honest I feel for Wests fans for all the shit their club is in.

  • Maybe the Tigers fans wouldn't have been so disgusted if they didn't bag their departing club as bad on the way out the door. Whilst they are all leaving it's the fans club!
Each one of them said "they are sick of not being in finals footy at Tigers" and bagged the club publically etc.
Throwing a can at Moses is a bit rough, but I'm with the fans on this one. They pay their hard earned and if they feel aggrieved it's just tough on the brats..harsh I know but it's been crap the way they have spoken about their club. These guys were the future of the club and it's disgusting that they all up and leave at the same time.
    • Macy he is our brat now. He might end up your fav.
    • The fans should point their fingers at the club.

They sacked JT 3 games into the season. Didn't have contingency plan and were lucky that Cleary fell into their lap.

Their CEO and board have zero idea on how to run a successful football department and have no vision for the future other than passing the buck onto the next coach.

I'd be getting the hell out of that club as well.

Completely mismanaged, and part of their young halves problems is a clear lack of development or any decent coaching to progress their games.

    • Most definitely he did Brett.
Hope he reads the play better than he reads the form
    • “There’s not even a coach yet. Obviously you want to know who that is and be in a team that’s winning games and can push for the title,” Moses said.

“Since I’ve been here the last three years we’ve been down the bottom. It takes a toll on you. There is something happening here at the Tigers. But if I’m going to be committing my future for the next four or five years then I think I’ve got every right to know who’s going to be coach and what the future might look like. So it’s going to be a big decision.

“It’s got nothing to do with money. The money is the last thing on my mind. I want to be playing good footy in a good footy side. The money doesn’t matter.”

Tedesco and Moses would attract other suitors and have been linked with Canterbury. Both denied any knowledge of that but Moses hinted he could leave the Tigers if things didn’t work out.

“I can’t tell the future. I do feel comfortable playing with the rest of the boys,” he said. “But everything’s got a reason so we’ll just see what happens, really.”
  • Lets not also forget

Cleary came out all tough n stuff with the following statement

Either get on the bus or get off

Moses answered the question. I'm not getting on

Which was fair enough with Cleary pulling the offer

Tigers actually made the decision for Moses

So Cleary Sh!ts himself with someone calling his bluff and starts to backtrack

Cleary you stamped your authority (Which is fair enough)

Now stop making yourself look 2 face and let Moses go.

    You started this
