DA not under threat

Eels chairman Roy Spagnolo has told the Sydney Morning Herald that Daniel Anderson has the board's backing and that his position is not under threat, saying that the club still believed the side would make the eight.

'We're not panicking yet,'' Spagnolo was quoted as saying. ''We did have six players out against the Warriors so I don't think we can read too much into what happened over there.

''Defensively the team has been doing well, we just need to get our attack in order. Hopefully when Jarryd comes back from Origin things will lift up a gear.''

  • to all the nay sayers "stick that in ya pipe and smoke it", Straight from Roy the boy's mouth!
  • They will tell u anything to believe it if they don't make he is gone
  • This is the nail in DAs coffin. He now has the "full support of the Board". The same as Nathan Brown did at St George and Wayne Bennet at the end of his stay at the Broncos. I think Ron Hilditch also had the full support of the Board as did Hagan and Cronin

Lets have a look at his quotes:

"We are not panicking yet" is code for we realise panic is not far away and may break out at any moment but not yet

"We just need to get our attack in order" is code for DA has 6 weeks to do it or we will do it

"Hopefully when Jarryd" is code for the entire Eels play book in 2010 !! and is not a game plan. Hopefully when Hayne scores 6 tries per game we will win a comp.

    He ends the article with

"We have to give this guy a chance" is code for this is his last chance or my mate Ricky is headed over to fix the problem
    • I agree, "Daniel Anderson has the board's backing" sounds like the deathknell for me!
  • Getting the board's backing means you should be packing your bags. It's hilarious how often the coach will be out the door not long after hearing those dreaded words.
  • Dead man walking....
  • This is an absolute joke. I'm not sure if Spagnolo is saying what he feels or not, but the fact of the matter remains that Ando is the man to coach the Eels long-term. What the fuck is the point of pulling up stumps and moving on as soon as something looks like going pear-shaped? They have to stick by Anderson and let him figure out how to fix the problem. His record speaks for itself.

Look at Elliot and the Panthers. They were coming near last every year but the club stuck by him and had faith in his plan. He was given the opportunity to do what he wanted, which is the most important part, and he's turned a team of shit kickers into contenders. Ando shits all over Elliot as a coach, and our team has more talent in Hayne's left pinky. Ando needs to be trusted.
    • Agree 100%. If Parra let him go it will be a huge mistake, he is quality and needs to be trusted. I love your example of Elliot, i thought he was a goner a couple of years back but the Panthers stuck by him and they are looking very good.

Take a look at South Sydney, they got rid of Jason Taylor just as he was building that team into genuine contenders, the team he wanted. While this example is not good because the Bunnies are going really well right now without him, in my opinion it is off the back of what Jason Taylor did and not Lang. Anderson is a long term coach that WILL bring us success IMO.

I trust DA and will be very very upset with the Parramatta club if they let him go.
    • Couldnt agree more Dan.

If the others on here think that C.K.S (Club Killer Stuart) is their saviour, then they really have lost the faith!
  • No Chance, we must stick with the coach, he is Parra thru and thru. At least i know he is giving his all and his love and passion of the club is what we need to go forward, we just need the team to be consistent and follow his instructions - DA is the future grand finalists coach of the Eels.
