Cows

Very interesting to see the boys struggle this year.

Any idea what happened there? They seemed unstoppable last year.

Leaking points, undisciplined, clunky in attack.

  • I said it last year, they over achieved and I expected a drop off this year but not this much.

    • Gotta consider a few things there.

Both were second choice at their preferred position.

Cap squeeze. Cost of protecting promising young players.

Wayne Bennett getting the best out of his troops.

        • None of those players are ahead of the two you mentioned. Different positions. They left for an opp to play 13 and 1.

            • They literally left because they wanted to play 1 and 13. That's that. Ofcourse they tried to keep them.

          • 100% Hammer and TG deserve a spot in any teams 17 but I'm just pointing out that the cows didn't have a chance of keeping them because JT Drinkwater have mortgages out on their positions. They didn't leave because cows re signed Granville or Hess. It's not the same thing.

They left to play 13 and 1, they left to play under the greatest RL Coach of all time.

        • Tabuai-Fidow and Gilbert were off contract at the end of 2022. Hiku, Feldt and Hess were already contracted for 2023+. Granville had a club option and with Robson in front of him he would be on fuck all. Certainly a lot less than the Hammer.

  • Bit like us

    • I think they are nothing like us.
Kept together most of their forward pack. I'm fact I think most of their starters have stayed. I think they have gone backwards and we have kind of been caught up to by other teams.
They were shit in 2021 so maybe this is just more who they actually are?

  • Teams that went deep in last years finals as well as supply the majority of players to the World Cup have had a massively reduced off season.

Rep players returned to training much later then they usually do. A shortened off season brings about indifferent results.

The current premiership table will look a lot different in a few months.

  • I think the type of way Payten winds his teams up is too much to continue with.

The team is young and lacks the needed hard headed leadership to sustain the pressure. They put in 110% and had a few players play a WC and it has cost them. They brought in Tamou, but he has been out or hasn't even got on the field at times.
