The North Queensland Cowboys will have another forward with State of Origin and Test experience in their NRL squad next season after signing Ben Hannant to a one-year contract today.
The 29-year-old, who has played 12 matches for Queensland and six for Australia, will move north from the Brisbane Broncos to bolster the Cowboys’ forward pack as North Queensland chase a fifth consecutive finals appearance.
Hannant has played 192 NRL matches after starting his career with the Sydney Roosters in 2005 and won a premiership with the Brisbane Broncos in 2006.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunities that playing with the Cowboys will present,” Hannant said today.

What a forward pack, Hannant, Scott, Tamou, Tolomolo, Kelpi, Cooper, Hall. Would have to be one of the best in the comp.
THE best in the comp, IMO.
They easily have the best front-row rotation.
Scott, Tamou, Bolton & Hannant & then add a back-row/lock of Tanginoa, Taumalolo & Cooper - dynamite forward pack.
Paul Green is doing well.
Always had the brains but was just behind the best with playing talent.
Cows will be there again in 2015.
With the pack they have and their backs finding form they will be favourites to win next year.
Tell you what, I'm glad we missed out on signing Tamou when the talk was around 2013 that we were making a big money offer to him. He has pretty much been rubbish ever since he signed that contract extension with the Cowboys, Green even had him starting from the bench this season. Will be interesting to see if Tamou ramps it up when his next contract is about to be negotiated, or, if Green is tempted to shop him around before his deal expires.
You're right Eelectric ever since he injured his sternum and turned sideways into the line he's been far less effective
Kostjaysn would beg to differ - he was pretty consistent for the Cowboys throughout 2014.
Granville's a bit nippier, though & more suited to the role, so he'll definitely perform well.
A good decision. They already had a competitive pack & Hannant is a quality player.
Couldn't understand cowboys letting him go I was always impressed by his playing style whenever I saw him up there.
