Yep, we can and will beat them frank, cant wait.
Fark Ive never been such a big Unicorn Snake, but this year has got me excited, it actually feels pretty good mate.
Although its up in Nth Qld I'm feeling pretty confident and Im sure the guys will try their guts out. Whether the Cowboys admit it or not they will be a little worried about our team. Lets see what happens next Saturday.
Going to NQL is a huge ask. The conditions - warm, humid affect the visiting teams a lot more than the home side which is already an advantage. To win, you can't turnover the ball and just defend like we have, it won't be possible in the heat & humidity. We must go set for set with them for the whole game. It seems like each week we like to defend 4+ sets of 6 in a row on our line. Do that next week and we'll lose, easily. The start is crucial, if we start well we won't be as fatigued after 20 minutes, and it won't make us make interchanges we wouldn't normally need to. After all that, the Cowboys are a gun side at home. Their attack just clicks and rolls over teams, starting with Scott & Tamou. It will be so much harder than Rd 2. I don't mind if we lose this one, there won't be many teams that win up there so we're the same as every other team in that regard. Tbh I'm more concerned about the Dogs game the Friday after, on the back of a draining NQL trip. That's the game we should win but could be affected by the turnaround from NQL.
Frenchie tbh I will be more interested in how we turn up, our resolve and commitment than the result. I honestly feel if we show up with the right mindset and play in their faces we have the game to cause a boil over. If we lose but give it our all I will still be pleased.
Having said all that we will win by 6, say 20 -14.
I think we have the team and current form to beat them... BUT... the referees simply influence the outcome of games too much.
We did enough to beat Manly by 20+ but the referees and bunker kept them in the game till the death.
We need to get a fair share of the 50/50 calls and penalties to beat the Cowgirls at home.
Somewhere I read they are heading to Townsville early, think its Monday that will enable them to train in the humidity & heat up there. I would not go up there at this time of year, anywhere North of Ballina at the moment is not for me.
As Frenchie says, the key will be in discipline, no stupid penalties nor unforced errors, or any at all if possible. Eels need to play the almost perfect game to get on top of the cows. They certainly impressed me on Friday night, but I also thought the bunnies had mixi though. Commentators kept saying they needed to work on getting Inglis into the game, personally I thought Inglis was very poor & has been for most of this year as he stays back & rarely comes into play.
Eels can win, the thing is will they? Even share of the ball, & calls, think it will be close, maybe a try or even dropped goal difference.
