Cowboys

Wow, I just watched cowboys. So, about next week......Every game this season has been a test.Round 1 : How do we stack up against the grand finalists? Can we win our first game of the year with all the new recruits? Check, not bad, didn't win, but not bad, good signs....Round 2 : Can we beat the premiers? How will our new halves combination compare to the best half back in the world? Check, our first win! Nice...Round 3: Can we win at Homebush? The hoodoo stadium? The scene of many shitty losses in the last many years? Against the team with the form pack of the competition? Big check. We flexed our muscle, stopped their pack in their tracks, and beat them comprehensively. UNICORN TIME!Round 4 : The Easter Monday game. We'd lost the last two Easter Monday games, we're on a roll, cmon, surely we can win 3 games in a row for the first time in a long time? Check, tough defensive game with not many trick shots, but we scrape the win.Round 5 : Battle of the West. We should flog those mountain men, but four in a row? After looking like we had it in the bag, boom, they pull our pants down. No check. Visions of past grey skies.....Round 6 : Ricky. Canberra just smashed the dogs more than we smashed the dogs, they're getting talked up like Ricky's has solved the world's food problem, but BOOM! Check. We give em a flogging, lots of quality attacking play showing us all some of the tricks we can look forward to as our team's plays and combos begin to execute successfully. This is just the beginning of everything. The genesis....Round 7 : Brookie. Big old rivals. The Foz. The Tooheys ad. And the game is played just as tough as games back then, albeit with fancier haircuts. But pretty much throughout the whole game I never really had doubts about the win, the more grinding the game got, the more confident I got that there was no way we'd lose. Big solid check.Round 8 : Cows. Away. They just absolutely creampied Souths. They're on a roll and looking very solid. Thurston is a puppeteer, simply orchestrating games. Their forwards are like a big frightful machine. They have big try scoring ability all over the park. They're much more disciplined and executing so much more effectively than in round 2.Every week's a test? This one. This is the test...

  • Agreed, its a massive test. Souths were terrible though, like bottom 8 bad.
    • And Cows have made good teams look like bottom 8 teams too, that's what I'm afraid of.
  • Massive test. Souths were dreadful though. Better to play the Cows after they have a soft, big win like that. Doesn't really matter if we lose, most teams will up there. If we compete as we have, no injuries or suspensions, but lose, so be it. Winning would be worth 4 points it's that tough of a trip. As long as we don't lose by too many. Our differential is the best it has been in years, let's not dent that too much.
    • I want those 4 points FF...
  • I got a feeling that we will beat the Cowboys next week in a game that will make everyone stand up and take notice.

We are 100% the real deal this year.

    • Oh yeah baby
    • If we beat The Cowboys we are destined for a huuuuuge points deduction . I reckon they're just waiting long enough to see how good we will get . I reckon if we lost the first 4 on the trot we'd have received our penalty by now . Imagine if they only dished out -4 or -6 and we went the season undefeated . The season would have a huge * next to it for eternity .

When the Raiders broke the cap in 1990 they let them keep the trophy

When Canterbury broke it , they let them keep the team who then won it the next year

When Warriors broke it they just ensured -4 was enough to keep them out of the finals , Warriors were spoon favs that year. However in the end I reckon there would've been a few sweat beads on some foreheads when NZ were winning more games than expected .

The storm had ruined multiple seasons therefore were punished heavily however made a mockery of the season with them playing for zero points all whilst beating other teams ( except the fellow owned Newscorp Broncos of course who just so happened to flog Melbourne ) and effecting other teams chances of making the finals . I've heard all sorts of rumours about certain clubs being given favourable treatment by Melbourne that year to spite the NRL .

This year due to our success they're just waiting long enough to ensure we can't make the playoffs and make a mockery and put a big * next to this season is my gut feeling unfortunately .
  • Yes the Bunnies were bad but the Cowboys still looked fantastic

in 4 home games this year

    Cowboys

    Scored: 140 points

    Conceded: 32 points

    average home scored of 35-8

Will be an very tough ask to go up there and come back with the win.

  • This would be an ideal game to play after being deducted points, as the team would be incredibly fired up..
  • Biggest test of the season so far for sure, these guys are the bench mark and i think a good test to where we are really at.

Can't wait should be a cracker.

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
