The SMH has just posted an article stating that the five Eels officials have been granted an interim injunction.
But that is not what caught my eye in the article.
This statement from the Eels barrister did:
However, he said the first his clients knew about the allegations against them and the proposed suspension was in a letter handed to them on Monday afternoon. They were then asked to attend at 7.30am on Tuesday, just before the claims of impropriety were made public.
"[There was] no prior notice given that they would be suspended today before today," Mr Moses said.
In the letter, the five men were told of the allegations against them and told they have five days to respond. The letter also outlined the intention to deregister them and said they were suspended in the meantime.
So if this article is correct it appears that Sharp knew full well, when he answered at the AGM that he would stand down if it saved the club from losing points, that the NRL had no intention of requesting that.
Pretty easy to agree to something that you know will not happen, eh?

Late on Tuesday, Justice Rowan Darke enacted interim orders temporarily preventing the NRL from restricting the functions of the directors and club officials of the Parramatta National Rugby League Club Ltd.

Totally agree and just on your last point, why would they give us a glimmer of hope and know full well we won't be making the finals. Just make us play for nothing and let us plan for next season and beyond.

Thats all good and well but WHO is picking up the tab for all these legal battles? Me thinks somewhere somehow not-so-sharp & co have found loopholes to get the club to pay for they're battles which cannot be cheap to hire a barrister, got to the supreme court (whilst jumping the queue) and see a supreme court judge at such short notice. Please correct me if I am wrong

Ummm, this guy is going to have some problem in the court - they will NOT be telling him before hand what the judge's ruling is going to be.
