Reports suggest that David Fifito agreed to join the eels as a 16 year old but at the last minute the club baulked at paying a $100,000 sign on fee believing this was excessive for a 16 year old who had yet to play NRL. If this is true it is a devestating loss

Yep
lost over $30k off cap
More quality work from Steve Sharp and his cronies, didn't want to spend 100k on one of the best juniors in the game but happy to blow millions on their court fees. Thank fark he can't hurt the club anymore.
Was not on Steve sharps watch
Bernie’s
Fafitia was 16, he is slmost 20. It was 2016 when that gimp was still here. Can't blame Bernie for this one.
I think the club was a bit busy in 2016, and the salary cap was a bit full...
I take the point though - he would have been useful.
It was 2017
i remember commenting on It at the time
He was 16 at the time, he's now almost 20. It was 2016 and under the plumbers watch.
Bernie didn't start until 2017.
If we spent 100k on him 2 years ago would we still have D Brown or Mahoney? Not sure how 2nd tier and junior salary cap works.
Also 100k is massive money for a junior who could take the money for 2 years, get home sick and then go back to brisbane once eligible for NRL. The new rules mean players he couldn't play NRL until 18 so it's easy in hindsight to bag the club seeing how he developed but probably was a smart decision when made 2 years ago
LOL yeah good call, we saved 100k but are now offering him 4m over 5 years. Yeah such a smart decision......
Well if he was at Parramatta he'd be probably still be stuck at Wenty stuck behind Plodders like Tepai.
Luckily for him he never came to this laugh factory.
