Could Mahoney be the QLD hooker this year?

McCullough has been terrible and old

Friend out for 4 months and old

Hunt cannot play 80 minutes there and is a bench exclusive but is the likely choice

Granville has been missing since 2013

and Seggy is in Newtown or something

Mahoney might be the right choice for qld because he’s young, promising and tough while everyone else is old and out of form. Ponga, Munster and Mahoney is the spine could be their future.

  • Nope we need him in Blue and Gold during those rounds lol :)

  • I doubt it, hasn't even been selected for an emerging Maroons camp and you would've thought they'd bring him in this year after Cam Smith's retirement.

McCullough will probably be named with Hunt or Michael Morgan coming off the bench as the replacement.

It's at these times I now enjoy being a NSWelshman. Certainty at hooker, certainty at fullback and the form half in the NRL is a Blue along with being stacked for forwards.

  • Mahoney may play origin in a few years. He needs to get stronger ad that will come through training

    • Well Friend is gone. Ruptured bicep. Don't know if Seggy would be anywhere near the squad. He hasn't played any NRL this season and hasn't cranked out anything close to 80 minutes for a couple of seasons.

  • It’ll be Hunt. The Roosters just released the news that Jake Friend has ruptured his bicep and is out for the next 3 months.

  • I wouldn't think he'll play this yr.

Either Hunt or McCullogh will likely cover 9

& Morgan, Ponga or Norman will likely cover 14.

  • we definately have the best young hooker in the game. Based on form alone, so far this year, he has been the best hooker in the nrl (imo) Cameron smith was around the same age when he made his debut for qld. So why not Mahoney for origin?

  • Its a outside chance if nsw go 2 up they may look to the future for game 3
