Could Hayne play well within our current team?

Assuming Foran is fit to play. Do you think Hayne could fit in with the current team structure and what position would you play him? When Hayne left he was almost responsible for all out attack. He would try to be fullback, and five eighth. If we have both Foran and Norman here, would Hayne be trying too hard and over calling? Is Hayne a better 5/8 than Norman?Centre, fullback, 5/8, wing? Where would you put him.

  • Hayne is a FB and yes he'd fit our current roster. He can do everything that Flash does (probably better) but his passing game is miles ahead.

Can you imagine Norman passing to Hayne sweeping around who throws a cutout pass to Semi.

The issue we had when he last played for us was Sandow was a liability in defense and Hayne in attacks needs to someone who can get him the ball and can also run the ball to put doubt in defenders minds.

Once Hayne is one on one its very hard to stop him.

Mods - close this blog it is done
  • I think we are in the box seat to sign him I really do. I can't see him wanting to play 15 a side yawnion What a prospective backline for 2017!
  • If, and it's a big if, we could get Jarryd back while keeping a majority of our players ie, Foran, Norman, Edwards, Mau, Semi, Jennings and alike we would be near unstoppable. I am doubtful that we can though. If we could hold onto that squad for 3-4 years we would likely win 2-3 premierships.
  • Heres a question.

Seeings Hayne has left RL and parra for another sport, does that void his long service for the club and a big cap reduction like Tim Mannah?

Does the time roll over or does he have to start again thus no chance of long service % exemption from the cap?

If it does we might be ok?

    • It has to be continuous years. Anyway it's a capped amount and we can just dedicate all to timmy so it doesn't really matter
    • I still think we have to be in box seat to sign him. My only worry now is that his move to play Fiji sevens will be blocked and he will want to play league this year in which case I think the roosters can sign him
  • One word FARKEN YESSSS!!!
Well it's actually two but the thought just gave a me a boner.
  • Damn, because Tim wont be round too much longer, he could have been moved on and the whole lot go to Hayne, i didnt think it could be rolled over, thanks Mick.

Next you'll say Hock isn't coming."

"I am not too disheartened by that. If we got him then great but he is 29, having a few injuries and though a really good Winger he is an average Centre. I would rather Murray Taulagi."
