Cooper Cronk to leave Melbourne and join Sydney club

Hi All

First time blogger long time reader.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on Cooper Cronk is he too old to go after?

*EDIT* Just for explanation's sake. Cooper Cronk has announced he is leaving Melbourne to shift to Sydney

One year deal. He will want a bucket load of cash in excess of $1million.

If we think we have the roster around him for a tilt next season we should go all out to go for that premiership tilt.

It's not an extended deal like Watmough/Foran so not nearly as risky as they were.

I'm all for it. Australian/Queensland no 7 and a premiership winner.

A cold calculated half that would not only help us for a yr or 2 then someone who could teach our up and comers.

I don't think he'll sign anywhere on a 1 year deal. By all accounts he's the very definition of professionalism, a role model in arguably the most professional club in the competition. The only player who I understand came within touching distance to Cronk's preparation and mindset is Lockyer who retired at 34, and went out on his terms. If Cronk's looking for a $1.5M 3 year deal I'd be prepared to offer that to him. If anything his last year could see him transition into a strategic leadership role within the football club.
