I don't know if people have noticed or not, but when you get to the bottom of the Activity Stream on the front page there is now a More button which you can click to reveal more items.
This means if you're just keeping tabs on what has been commented on, you can scroll through a lot more items in the Activity Stream without having to go sifting through each and every blog.
