Figures have been released that show Parramatta have increased Ticketed Memberships by 64% over season 2009. That is an enourmous effort!
The reality is, the future of many clubs will rest in the support that the fans provide, no more so than in the purchase of Ticketed and Non-Ticketed Memberships.
For way too many years, memberships have failed to be a focus of clubs. Only now with licenced clubs feeling the strain, not to mention the financial fallout over the recent GFC, the NRL and the clubs realise memberships will be a massive part of the furture of Rugby League. Along with securing a Healthy TV deal in the next round of TV negotiations, the way forward is in our hands!
I had a conversation with some friends the other day about membership. They attend a few games a year, but not enough for them to justify a season membership. These are the people especially, that clubs have failed to reach over the years. These are the people that clubs need.
To all of you on here who have become a member of your team for the first time... I say congratulations in helping to be part of a solution to what in reality is a big problem in League. Its a win win situation really. By becoming a member, you are part of what your teaming is doing on and off the field. On the other hand, as a bonus the clubs will be forced to do more for the fans in order to create a larger fan/profit base.
Personally I think we are at the start of a very exciting chapter in Rugby League, so who wouldnt want to be involved. If your not involved already, get on board. If you are involved, get your friends on board. Lets all continue to keep Rugby League, the premiere sport in Australia! You can make a difference!
