Editor-at-large Nick Tabakoff has been nominated three times.
The Daily Telegraph’s editor-at-large Nick Tabakoff has scored three nominations in this year’s Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism, along with Janet Fife-Yeomans, Andrew Clennell, Miranda Devine and Ray Thomas.
Tabakoff and his Telegraph colleagues were tonight announced as finalists in the awards which will be held at the Australian Turf Club at Royal Randwick on August 12.
His work, including explosive revelations which led to the Parramatta Eels salary cap scandal, has earned him nominations for Outstanding Sports Reporting, Scoop of the Year and the event’s most coveted Journalist of the Year, which comes with a prize of $25,000.
Fife-Yeomans was nominated for the Les Kennedy Award for Outstanding Crime Reporting, a prize named in honour of the event’s namesake and legendary Sydney crime reporter.
Telegraph columnist, Devine was nominated for the Peter Ruehl Award for Outstanding Columnist.
State political editor Andrew Clennell received a nomination for Outstanding Political Reporting.
Telegraph racing editor Ray Thomas was nominated for both the Rod Allen Award for NSW Racing Writer of the Year and for Outstanding Turf Reporting.
Kennedy Foundation Chairman Simon Dulhunty said the judges were thoroughly impressed with the standard of entrants, of which there were more than 100.
“In a massive news year the standard of submissions from all entrants is exceptional,” Dulhunty said.
“From investigative journalism to news breaking, great feature writing and incredible pictorial entries, the cream of Australian journalism is rising to the top.”
