Compensation

It was the NSW State Government that intervened in the affairs of the Parramatta Ruby League club by appointing Max Donnerly as Chairman of the club. It was not the members of the club---they had no say in the matter at all. In one of his first decisions the Chairman extended  Arthur`s tenure by two years and increased his salary up to $ 1 million dollars. Because Arthur`s coaching record has fallen through the floor---45% winning record and two wooden spoons , making the Eight once, all in five years!--it is necessary to remove Arthur and appoint a new coach. However, to pay him out would cost the club about $1 million dollars. As the current debt for the football department is of the order of $16 million dollars it is unlikely, to say the least, that any payout will occur. I believe that there is grounds for the NSW Government to compensate the Parramatta Rugby League club for the money wasted by the Chairman for his irresponsible and incompetent decisions when the debt of the football department was at that time $8 million. The minimum compensation should be $2 million dollars payed to Arthur for the last two years of his contract negotiated by the Chairman. It has been said that Arthur is not coaching for the money! What else is he coaching for? The sheer humiliation of coming last, et al, and accepting a $1million salary would be enough for the coach to throw in his hand. But, if a Government appointee is throwing $1million a year at you, what else can you do but accept?

  • 80% of the PLC members could NOT give two shiits who was running the joint. As long as the pokies and Chinese restaurant function they are happy.
The NRL team is a side project that 80% of this 80% probably don't even know exist.
  • I don't know where you're getting this 2 wooden spoons business from. He was a caretaker for 6 games in 2012, that wooden spoon is not on him at all.

You're all over the place here. Go have a nap, then come back and see if you can make sense of this.

The State Government's hand was forced. We had board members who have since been found to not be fit and proper to hold elected office in NSW. This isn't the state government's fault. They did what they had to and what they were compelled to do.

  • I gather that your theme is Sack Arthur, blame Max, charge the government???

    • Nah it's blame the government, sack Max, charge Arthur.
