Just a quick thought about the crowd figures for the 'Final Series' in the NRL. In the 1981 Final Series that being prior to the NRL, the total crowd figures were 171516 for a total of 6 matches and all Sydney based sides. Last year in 2017 NRL Final Series the crowd figures were 291922 for a total of 9 games. This is a difference of about 120000. Now considering the fact that there are now 16 teams in the competition compared to pre NRL when there were only 12 Sydney based teams would the figures be any different for the crowds IF the current NRL were only 12 sides and only 6 finals games as in 1981? Wasnt there a recent media coverage or article indicating a return to a 12 side competition. So far the crowds for the 2018 finals series have not been that impressive and are slightly down on 2017 and IF it wasn't for the Suncorp Stadium crowds they would be even worse. So has the addition of outside Sydney teams and in particular the Melbourne Storm been of any significant value?

What do you expect from the author ?
Roughly 15 Million in 1981 compared to 24 Million in 2017. However, the main states of NSW, Qld and some of Victoria are perhaps the only Rugby League crowd attendees and back in 1981 it would have been mainly NSW and probably some of Qld.
Including all the refugees?
Probably right Kerry!
