  • There's no comparison. JH brought the league to its knees for 3 months, Turbo, as great as he is, didn't do it against the Storm, Panthers or Bunnies.

  • Turbo also failed to make the grand final.

Hayne was famous because he dragged a dead average team to a grand final.

Hayne also played in the wrestle era with slow play the balls.

    Hayne > Turbo

Hayne would have had 30 tries this year if he was 21 playing with the current rules.

    • That's a great point! Imagine what he would do with the new rules and faster play the balls 🤩😞

    • Calling the 2009 eels team average is very generous

    • "Hayne was famous because he dragged a dead average team to a grand final"
Great post, as good Turbo is, he couldn't tie Hayne’s shoelaces at his best.
I remember Burt being interviewed after losing to the Tigers, he conceded the season was over and was lamenting at what could have been. The rest is history, Hayne did what no other player has ever achieved and to date, Turbo has not achieved, “dragged a dead average team into a grand final”

  • No comparison in my opinion. Hayne was far superior than Tom Trbojevic in every facet.

  • Hayne every day of the week. What a waste.

    • Tommy's a great player, currently one of the best......... but Hayne soared, so we named him the plane. He was majestic.

    • People forget, going into 2009 that spine was all Rookies, even though Robson was older, he has barely played 6 games prior.

      Robson 6 games

Mortimer had played 18 games that actual season (2009)

      Matt Keating debuted in 2008.

people really underestimate what Hayne did. He was a freak.

  • The NRL just need to believe the games producing superstars in a dogshite era of the game. Honestly who is there ?  They're trying to give the illusion that since Thurston , Slater , Smith etc retired there isn't a big stinking hole in the superstar talent Dept.

I was never a Hayne fan but even I'll concede that that pretender isn't even in the same stratosphere as Hayne when he was on .  TT is more on par with a Ben Barba.  Next they'll be comparing Cleary with Thurston and Cook with Danny Bedurus
