Coaching.

As a coach u put together a game plan to suit that club, u then buy & sell players to help assimilate that playing style. Then u hav to convince those players this is the way u want them to play.GOOD NEWS - If it works ur a bloody genius.BAD NEWS - If it doesn't work u try & change it up until it either begins to work, or the playing roster starts to lose confidence in wat u r trying to acheive.I hav no doubt this coach is a good one, but this is a results driven industry & this guys methods hav been implemented for a few years now with no top 8 finish in sight.Either the game plan needs to change or u change the playing roster.

  • Matt your first sentence was wrong. Not a good start to your coaching career.

    • All good points.

      I got one question though.

The coach is now in his forth year, if he gets the playing roster he wishes, do u still keep him if the team keeps playing the way they are ?
  • U could eliminate the player making those basic schoolboy errors ?
  • My point is as much as I like the coach & wat he is trying to implement at the club, this is still a results driven industry & he just doesn't hav the runs on the board.

I know he did well last year, but all anyone is gonna remember is how they cheated the salary cap, not the efforts that were put in.
  • OK Matt - first things first

Your coaching experience is what exactly?

Because baby you could not have got it more wrong if you tried.

    Give yourself an uppercut.

    Pac's self uppercut

      • August 2016 Browny - but imo is a good approach even now.

            • Brad did come out pretty early to declare Gutherson as our 6 and French as our 1.

1/2 the season perhaps - if they are continually improving then persevere even longer?

The way both of them are going I cannot see a legitimate reason to drop them into different positions - or to Wenty.

  • The two major issues there (for me)

    06 NOT retaining Taylor.

That perhaps could have made JT as a coach and influenced team attitude, but we will never know.

12 - Not retaining a coach on a roll. Again a contentious issue.

  • Mate didn't Hagan also go because of health.? Think he may have. Vertigo.
Smithy had his time here..and yes did well. But had long enough.
    • You got it Mitchy.

A few years later he turns up as assistant to Mal for the Toads.

@ Precious - I was certain there was a massive uproar with JT because Hagan had not been contracted until later and JT never got the chance to apply.

I don't think Hagan was signed prior to Smith walking out.
