    • Sterling is now available... Peter Sterling to quit Channel 9 after 27 years as NRL commentator...

After 27 years on television, Peter Sterling will quit Channel 9 at the end of the season.

It will be part of a huge commentary box shake-up after years of declining ratings at the network.

Sterling has told management and work colleagues of his decision to step down after the grand final to hand his microphone over to a younger colleague.

The 61-year-old Parramatta Eels legend retired from rugby league back in 1992 before joining Nine as a commentator and co-host of The Footy Show alongside his great mate Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin.

Sterlo’s retirement will not be the only major change at the network.

                • Don't read it then. Yes this average coach will be the Eels headcoach in 2022,  which means another wasted season. The windows will be nailed shut, and BA will have us outside the 8.

            • Look mate we'll see what happens.  Let's see if the players come out and give their all for Arthur as they are very aware of the situation through the media.  It's up to them now.  Playing for a cause can sometimes really galvanize a squad,  who knows.

Nobody hates Arthur, we are only giving an opinion on the current style of game they play, and it doesn't really look like it will match the best teams.

If the team doesn't fight for BA, the question must be asked - can someone else take us to the next level ?

            • Well stated Brissy. My preference right at this point in time is to focus on our roster, as much as id love to see a Robinson or Bennett it probably ain't going to happen, especially not anytime soon. There was an article posted in another blog where Ryan Girdler mentions we don't have the cattle. This is spot on & should be our main focus right now. In hindsight the club made a mistake this year by not going hard at key players who came onto the market, maybe it was salary cap related &/or many of us (myself included) were fooled into thinking we had the roster good enough to win a premiership. We simply do not. But what I would like to see going forward is for us as a club to start an overhaul of our roster. I feel it comes at a good time in terms of many players coming off contract that I wouldn't be resigning. I'd be keeping a select few & say goodbye to the majority. Yes this will set us back in the short term, finals football we may no longer play (short term), but a roster capable of winning a premiership is what we strive to build. I'd be prepared to sacrifice a couple of lean years in order to make this happen.

            • Agree Brissy

    • Bennett is definitely available
