Coach Nepotism has arrived

How many of the Parra Faithful were bagging out bushy Brad Authur when we beat Melbourne Storm a couple of weeks ago????

Don’t get me wrong I’m not a massive fan of bushy but we were unlucky not to have made the GF last year and the team did step up when it mattered.

Bushy goal is to guide the boys to a top 4 position at the end of the year and then the real footy starts.

I feel this is the last year Brad as we are running out of time before we lose more players.

Maybe Brad and the boys were reading too much hype before the game against the cowboys thinking it was going to be a cake walk. But playing the Cowboys in their conditions wasn’t a smart move. The game should have been reserved to another team like Canberra which they would have been playing out of there elements and would have struggled in the conditions.

As for that Syphilitic simpleton Phil Rothfield the question needs to be asked. Would Jake Arthurs be getting a starting spot on any other top 6 team in the comp???

If Jake was playing for the Rooters or Storm then coaches like Trent and Craig would be using Jake off the bench and only taking the field early due to injury or when the game was in the bag.

This separates the top coaches from nuffies like BUSHY.

Its time to let the season run its course and if we beat Penriff next week Brad will be hailed as a genius.

  • I have been criticising JA on the bench and coming on pushing DB to centre since the trials on here and on TCT - see my disagreement with 60s. It is just plain dumb and there is no escuse for it.

BA has done plenty of good things for Parra and I have supported him strongly against criticism on this site. However, he also has had some weaknesses that I have criticised.

BA putting JA at 6 and pushing DB to centre is not about Nepotism. I could not give a sht about Nepotism. I am happy for BA to abuse his power and get Parra to pay for all the immortal halves to come and coach his son 1 on 1. But this move is destroying our chances at the premiership this year and in years to come. This move show BA cannot make rational decisions when his sons are involved and he has to go.

It has nothing to do if we beat Melbourne or Penrith (we wont beet a good team with JA at 6). It has to do with the fact that JA to 6 pushing DB to center was an inexcusable move that gains nothing but possibly aiding JA's development. But adds nothing to the team. It

    1. destabilises the best spine in the comp and the developing combinations

    2. Cuts short DB breakout as the best 5:8 in the comp and risk him losing form and/or choosing a different team for his next contract

    3. DB needs more practice kicking to be a viable option in big games. That is game practice. He is missing this at centre.

    4. creates a new defensive issue because our centre who is there supposedly for defence has to cover for JA.

It strengthens nothing. It was done in the trials and in round 1 and has nothing to do with injuries to outside backs. YOu do not move your young 5:8th who was performing the best in the comp for someone who cannot provide any tries. JA and MM combination has provided zero tries in the last 130 minutes. Against the Titans DB MM provided 5 tries in 30 minutes then JA MM 0 tries in 50 minutes. Against Cowboys in hot conditions and camped in Cowvoys half for 30 minutes with 67% of possession we scored no tries. DB MM have not been tryless in the first half all season. If you watched JA at half in the trials and last year this is what was expected. We stuffed our attack and for what? To strengthen centre defence. No. Firstly this was done before injuries when was not needed. Secondly, as Drinkwater said and proved with action, JA needs DB to keep close in defence support that creates a weakness good sides can easily exploit. We destroyed our attack and made our defence just as bad and probably worse than having Carty or anyone else play centre even JA or Cini wing Perham Centre. This is a move by a coach that cannot act in teh clubs best interest when his son is involved. It is not appropriate for a professional club. We will lose our chance at a premiership with a great team this year and we will lose key players moving forward and it will create disharmony in the team.

It is nothing about being cruel. It is just stating the obvious.

  • Unlucky not to have made grand final last year?
We were knocked out in week 2!
Yes we were unlucky to not beat Penrith, but that does not mean we were guaranteed to beat Storm the week after?

    • We have the wood on Melbourne

  • JA didn't cause that score line on Saturday night. There were 17 players in our team and 16 of them have a lot more experience than Jake does. There is a real BA hate squad that come out in force whenever the Eels loose or win and they don't seem to offer any reasoning behind the constant negative post apart from the fact they don't like him. Too many people are buying into the media's constant ramble regarding Eels winning a premiership and as much as it has been a long time, We are doing a lot better than a lot of other teams and have constantly been in the top 8 for a long time.

Seeing what unfolded on Saturday night was not easy to take as an Eels fan but I have seen a lot worse and I will still be an Eels fan for the rest of my days regardless. Do I want to see them win every week ? Yes. Is it realistic that they will win every week ? No. The players are the team in Blue and Gold while we are the Blue and Gold army. Lets not make ourselves look like a bunch of whinging idiots and give the media another point to attack our club.

      • So what part of the of my last paragraph is the loser mentality. Is it the fact that I was disappointed with what happened on Saturday, or that we won't win every game or is it that a bunch of whinging wankers that have never achieved anything in rugby league have given our club more negative headlines.

I don't agree with putting JA into 5/8 and moving DB out of position at all but the story wasn't about that, it was about Parra fans bagging the coach and his son. We were the the reason for the negative story.

          • No worries here Brissy. I don't get offended by remarks and I don't buy into the negative views of some people because it footy. I wasn't happy with what happened on Saturday and what Eels fan would be, but I have bled Blue and Gold for over 40 years and that loss won't be changing anything. To be honest I was more cut reading about how us Parra fans were portrayed by the media and sadly rightfully so.

      • I agree!
BA has had enough time and I believe the team should part ways with him soon enough.

        • Unfortunately we are stuck with him unless we have a massive crash during the season.
