Club Statement on Peni Terepo

Parramatta National Rugby League Club (PNRL) have been made aware that Peni Terepo today pleaded guilty and was convicted in Auckland District Court for careless driving and refusing to give a blood alcohol test.

PNRL Club officials were only today made aware of the matter via media reports in New Zealand and were not advised of the incident by Peni.

Parramatta Eels Chief Executive, Bernie Gurr, has made the following comments:

“The Club is extremely disappointed with Peni’s behaviour and we regard what’s taken place as extremely serious."

“Upon learning of Peni’s conviction, we have immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unity this morning and emphasised that no Club official was aware of this incident."

“Peni has been stood down from all official club duties effective immediately and will also not be considered for selection in our Auckland Nines squad."

“We will be making no further comment until we speak with Peni early next week and receive his comments."

  • This is poor form by him if true. Why do these guys do this? If he loves playing footy, then he needed to man up and tell the club asap....

  • I would be surprised if the players obligations, in relation to notification to the club in events with a significance marginally greater than sneezing, haven't been drummed into the players 20 times per season.  Just plain dumb.  I had high hopes for Peni this year and he would be at best, on very thin ice.

    • He should have just said what Roberts told broncos officials, "I didn't mention it because I couldn't remember it happened, soz my bad."
  • He will have his contact torn updrink driving is bad enough but add not informing the club i think he will be stuffed or a suspension and fine.
  • Amazing wasn't front page on telecrap calling for his sacking or 12 week suspension
  • Good thing they know how to use the possessive apostrophe ;)
  • You can't blame him, he bought 75 beers and held on to 8, I wouldn't be telling one either.

  • I think Pene might be looking for employment somewhere else this year.

    • Knights or Manly, Dave. What do you think?

Or does he go back to being a butcher?

  • Both clubs would be interested.  If Willis Meehan was going to be in the top 25 at Manly he might take that position and Newcastle need to replace Pauli and Sims, therefore both would be interested, particularly as he can play middle and edge.
