Club Statement: Blaize Talagi

Blaize Talagi and his management have informed the Club that he will be accepting an offer elsewhere.

Parramatta Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos said “The Club made a very strong offer to Blaize, provided a clear path for his football future and consistently made it clear to Blaize and his family that we wanted him to be part of the Club long term.”

“While we are disappointed, particularly given the opportunities provided to Blaize during his time at the Club, we wish him all the best.”

  • Good that we don't have to spend 600k to keep a rookie . We don't need these money hungry  rookies controlling our club

    • Would be good to hear from Ryles. Clearly he couldn't convince the young kid to stay. Here's hoping our new coach is able to improve on the current roster!, or at the very least get the most out of what we have!

  • I can live with this, thus far has been all hype and bravado, good luck to him. 600 k in club kitty 👍

  • If we offered him the 500k reported , we are sillier than I thought. Like someone flagged the other day , we offer this doofus 500k and sign Lomax for 650. What message does that send to the playing group. We'll be siting around for another young potential star to hit his straps for 2 or 3 contracts. This kids cheering, we give him a start, the media give him extra attention because he's at Parra , we throw crazy coin at him due to said media attention so we don't look the fool losing the only half talent to come through in ages, and then he waltzed off to a better opportunity elsewhere .

If this kid comes through a decent team  , nobody still knows who he is.

    • I actually think that we didn't offer anything like 500k. Certainly unless we offloaded some players there is no way we could afford that sort of money next season. He would have been offered minimum wage whilst in the background we try to offload some of the older players. That has been slow to come to fruition (and it may not) and so in the end his manager lost interes and took a deal he was after at another club. This really comes down to poor management of the roster leaving no room to move from season to season.

      • You're right we have no money , now  , but they'd be looking to the future where we will. I have no doubt we'd have offered him in vacinity of the 500k with other clubs throwing cash at him. Look how we got into Dutch auctions with everyone else on our roster.

      • rumor was 1.5m over 3 years. so next year might have been 25 - 350, 26 - 550, 27 - 600

    • Dragons offered him 600k parra matched it and offered more years and first crack at fb spot next year.

      • That's madness if true

      • Well if that's true I'm glad he walked. Around 350k is what his worth right now.

Wouldn't be surprised if the article says BA is still the coach."
