We have seen Roosters do that and Storm and Manly going back over the years. I do not think any of those Premiership winning sides that bought players can take much satisfaction doing that.
Winning premierships is what it is all about but how you do and the tribal input is still important. Mercenaries can come but they at the very least need to love the club.....that would be very difficult for the Canterbury mercenaries.
I always though Cronk going to Roosters from Storm was very hollow. Admittantly Cronk was coming to Sydney and was going to change, but Easts paid nearly double in kind for his last two seasons.
