Going back to our last premiership with all the good times we experienced with Brian Smith and the one good year with Brad Arthur and the one good year with Daniel anderson and the one good year with Michael Hagan I cannot remember a game that we were expected to win at the business end of the year that we actually won. Our club really struggles to deal with any expectation. It reared its ugly head again last Sunday. How they could not have been prepared for Newcastle to be at their absolute best and for us to perform so poorly at the outside of the game is beyond me. We tend to look our best when everyone has written us off and then when their opinion changes we lose. 2006 and 2009 are perfect examples of this. Another example is when they stripped our premiership points we seemed to perform well because nothing was expected of us. Is it in our DNA and if so can it be changed?
I’m a little biased but I feel that the perception of our club is that we are a glamour club and teams really love to get up and beat us. It is something that we really need to deal with before we have any concrete successes.
