Cheyse Blair

Thoughts?

I think he'll be better as a centre than winger but it was a pretty decent debut. As I said in another thread he made some good pressure relieving runs from dummy half, but I don't know what he was doing on that first try (Yes Normo you were right on your reading of that play).

  • To early to call Phil , He will need 6 weeks to get into the groove i think . He did ok for a first match  . I wont critical of him just yet .

Yes i would much rather we discuss both MORGAN and MK at length.

Morgan doesnt hit me as a dynamic attacking flare player , he appears to be basic player at best and ive seen nothing special form him 2011 to now to change my mind . If he doesnt improve quickly he may battle to get a spot in the 17 with Wt Tonga sue to secure a centre spot and seversl players ready to put their hands up .

MK i just cant be convinced in any way that he is our best dummyhalf option. While he can play well at times , he lacks speed -creativity and to me a a former player , this is vital as a dumy half . Every micro second counts when delivering speedy passes ,running form dummy half , kicking options .

  • I think Blair is going to play alot of first grade this year, he looks the goods to me. Id leave him on the wing as i think Willie Tonga and Morgan are our best centres. When Hayne returns we dont need star attacking centres on both sides and Morgans defence was pretty impressive last night. I hate to say it but when we are fully fit i dont think Burt should be in the 17.

  • Bit of Eric Grothe about the lads anatomy/style don't ya think? And how bout when he adds a stone. What's his height anyway?

Rabs was barred up over Blair's physique, would've left the commentary box with a towel around his waist.....
  • Pretty impressive for debut in those conditions.
  • He showed some promise and i hope when he gets dropped back to wenty next week he wont take it the wrong way.

  • He looked average under the high ball, probably better suited to centre

  • I think he has played all his juniors at centre hasnt he ? I think he's a real good kid and I would have him as the centre partner to Willie.
The back line should read ....
    Haynes
    Sio
    Blair
    W. tonga
    Burt.

    A very very good backilne.
  • Agreed 1Eyed I though Blair was good- looks strong; and runs hard....not disimilar to grothe and etu.....I think he'd be better at centre though and Morgan either on wing or wenty. The try Broncs scored on his wing was not entirely his fault- the inside players rushed in....and panicked!

    • Both rushed in wasn't very good communication between Esi and Blair

  • I agree 1EE. I think he should be centre inside Burt, & Sio should be the winger outside Willie. Obviously Hayne at fullback. That gives us the right balance of youth & experience.
