It's still early in the season, but already we are seeing great evidence of the character in our team. Make no mistake, BA has installed some real resilience in the team and genuine pride in the jersey. People have rubbished the team for their losses, yet there were positives which could be found in each game amongst the many things which needed improvement. The most obvious was how we are dealing with adversity.Seriously, how many more injuries are on our horizon. I'll be honest and admit that I found it difficult to picture a win before the game. That opinion was not based on our efforts but on our injury toll and the fact that we were playing the juggernaut known as Souths. I was there in the colours cheering, but even I had underestimated our character. I could not have felt prouder! As fans, there are times when we have to develop the same resilience as the players. Yes, for too long our players have been the poorest in the league at dealing with adversity during a game. There was little to be proud of. The Brad Arthur era is a new era. The team is still developing and with so many injuries we need to understand the demands placed on the players. Let's get behind them on this journey. There was certainly nothing better than being at the game last night cheering them on!FootnoteWhere were the fans last night? 15000 crowd against the Premiers on a perfect night! There wasn't a huge contingent of Souths fans either. I know it was on telly, but what a game to be at! You need to get to Parra stadium this year.

  • Careful mate :)

According to some, we need to sack BA and re-instate Anderson.

They have a good case, BA has been here for one and a seventh seasons and he has yet to deliver a semi final appearance.

In any event, he's already exceeded the time that any one coach is welcome at Parra. His time is up.

  • It was a real flashback in regards to character. Maú could have been Ray Higgs charging unmercifully into the defence and putting his body on the line in every tackle. Watmough was magnificent in the same way. All of our forwards showed true grit and character which gave Sandow space to work his magic. This was Parramatta almost 40 years ago and BA deserves all kudos. The only difference is that the Parra forwards used to have passing exchanges between themselves such as runarounds,criss-crosses, offloads etc but even those appear to be re-emerging now. Having the ball for the first 20 minutes was a nice change and very important. This team will not give up and are worth watching every week. We may go better than we thought this year and there are plenty of very good players to come back into the team ready for a big run home in the back half of the draw. We only need stay in touch with the top 8 until everyone comes back. In regards to Edwards, Price once came back from a torn ACL in 9 weeks (1978 I think). I don't know how he did it but I would certainly like to hear him tell us how.I sniff something special in BA and our team. It is almost as if Terry Fearnley has passed the baton to BA

  • I have to agree nothing better then being at the game. I left Sydney 7 years ago and the only thing I miss is going to Parra stadium. I can remember going in early 90's when we were lucky to get 5,000 to a game and most of them were free tickets but the place still rocked.
  • The intensity from our forwards was magnificent. I said at half time that Souths were off their game but the forwards had caused it. The Souths forwards couldn't match our efforts and I think some of them started to look at who was tackling them. Our ruck speed was a huge step up. David Gower you are an unsung champ mate.
    • Precisely Sixties, Souths diddnt dominate nor play their best, not because they diddnt show up, not because they are out of form, but simply because we forced that out of them. You compare their performace last night, to that of last weeks against the tigers and they would have put 30+ on them. If we played em last week the margin would have been far greater.

First time in a long time i have seen souths get man handled like that. We outplayed them in every single way, made them look like chumps. Bashed em like they havnt been bashed for a long long time.

  • Great blog 60s, credit to you, youve claimed youve seen something different this pre season regarding attitude, going on last nights performance youve been proven correct although its still very early on, i think we are building something really special atm for the Foran years, we will be a force to be reckoned with, you can just feel us moving forward as a team

Full credit to BA and the boys.

    • Cheers mate. The team is busted with injury but turned up big time. Who could have honestly predicted a win. I knew that they'd have a dig but that game by the forwards was freaking awesome. We gotta catch up at a game this year mate.
  • Robert Lloyd must have got kissed on the lips before the game?
    •  Tentonz, therein lies a story. I got to the ground just in time for the kick off--private bus company left me in the lurch .( I wish I was being voted in as premier today; I would abolish all private bus companies with relish.) So there was no time for shenanigans--the important thing in life is watching the Eels brand of Rugby League ! After a tense game and a win, I got my kiss--2nd in twenty odd years!-- but I must confess that I cheated a little. I told the kisser of my prediction that we would win and I would get a kiss because it was written in the stars, which it was. So I asked her could you give me a kiss so that the Gods of League would be appeased. She obliged with a tiny peck on the lips. This is all done along side her husband who is a big man! So if I don`t continue reporting on these matters, I will be at home heavily bandaged around the head and jaw feeling sorry for myself! It is all good, clean fun but I think it time to move on. If only those infernal stars would not shine so brightly.
