  • This should be riveting....

  • Had a short listen. He basically was saying their job was to ignore external concerns from the media asking questions and they basically have to support Brad and the players to assist in getting the team moving forwards. He was asked about the reserve grade and jersey flegg not winning a game so far and he basically said they were young and needed experience etc... I felt he was just dancing around the questions and I lost interest. I seriously can't see Brad Arthur getting the boot. The only possible way might be if the Eels really do bad this year and the media puts heaps of pressure on. That might force them to do something but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting

    • Honestly as buzz light year would say

      idiots

      idiots everywhere 😫

    • Yep pretty much summed it up mate...

Zero questions re the coaches tenure - after 11 years without success and the longest draught in the NRL, you'd think this question would be one of them...

  • My question is what Rugby League experience has Jim Sarintinos actually had? I think he was involved with an Insolvency company for 20 yrs however what footy experience does he have in dealing with underperforming coaches. What is his actual role? Does he contribute to any decision making with recruitment or how the coach is performing? I'm not exactly sure what his job description actually is

    • Sarantinos has a business background. He started as a Partner with Ferrier Hodgson. CEOs in football often come from outside organisations. Easy example is Melbourne's CEO who came from the betting industry.

Probably greater focus should be on Mark O'Neill at this point in time and what exactly he's doing.

    • A CEO with business administration experience is way better for us than a CEO who "gets footy". That's why we have a Head of Football role.

I haven't listened to the pod yet but any CEO with an ounce of media training won't give anything away. I'm kinda glad Jim seems boring, it's better than folks we used to have in the board and the administration who would have emotional rants to the media all the time.

We want a Head of Football who fronts the media about footy matters, who is a student of the game. That's what seems to be missing.

  • Not good enough, the reason we ain't winning, it ain't starting in the office. Other teams seem to pick up the players they need, we pussy foot around.

  • It's not a bad interview. Jim's asked about the "pressure" on BA. He's always going to say he supports Brad and the team. To say anything else would just invite further pressure and scrutiny.

Interesting bit of the interview is that Jim said they're still negotiating with Sanders and it's not confirmed he's moving on.

If that is the case, then Brad surely has to give him a shot in first grade. If we have Mitch out for as long as it's been suggested, then to hold Sanders back in Cup would all but mean he has to leave. If you want him to be a future halfback at the club, then you have to give him a shot at some point. And honestly, it would be a free swing for Sanders. We can't play much worse.

Jim covered our yearly Darwin game, said we've sold it out the last 4 years. Didn't commit either way to maintaining that match.

Confirmed that Parramatta have entered an EOI to play in Vegas next year.

Spoke about the Tigers wanting to play home games at CommBank. Said it's always going to be our home, didn't have a problem with the Tigers playing some home games there like they have in the past.

Kellyville is on track to be completed in March 2025.

Women's and girls program continues to grow.

Explained that only the NRLW level is funded by the NRL club grant, everything below that is club funded.

    • Super, On Sanders: Aren't the new rules that development players can't be signed by another club until R6 for the following year (explaining why the Raiders couldn't sign Sanders despite reports which is to give clubs a greater chance to retain them)?

If so, it puts the give Sanders a shot into the urgent category. R5 team lists potentially pivotal. Because next round is potentially D-Day.

"Disagree our edge depth is fine. Williams, Kautoga, Tuilagi, Latu, Samrani, Guymer, etc. Plus got Jez, De Stradis, Lokeni, Lewis coming through Flegg.
Need more quality depth in the outisde backs. Russel is fine but after him the rest are crap."
