Cartwright and Co

How do you think Cartwright did?  Would Hipgrave have been better?  Would you preferbig Grieg in there or is it still too early? I thought Cartwright had a few good touches, first game in the Blue and Gold, geez we copped from the Draggies, sivo looked overpriced next to Ravalawa, Maratas first proper outing in the 4 on a good track, and up against a very very good centre Jack Bird, Draggies looked like they had something to prove, so does Cartwright get a Pass???

  • Cartwright is there I assume to create opportunies to attack. Problem was we were behind on the scoreboard and needed grind, patience and some time in their half with the ball.  He just needed to play tough not silky as they game was not being played that way.  Ravalawa has dominated SIVO both times he has played him. If I had the choice I would have him 9/10.  He lifts a cog when he plays SIVO.  Marata was schooled a little but he is not being used effectively with quality early ball. One on one stuff .  He needs to go back to the middles.  I am thinking we need RANKIN as our 14 to either up tempo or close out a game with calm game management like Blake GREEN is reknown for.   Very disappointing last night.  Lost our heads and played into the hands of teh Dragons.  Ref was diabolical and ten non existant.

  • I think I've said enough on Cartwright elsewhere. I personally don't get it. Everyone knows his strengths and weaknesses and they don't seem to have changed and won't change. He's perfectly capable of winning you a footy game but just as capable of losing you won and I thought we had moved away from that type of player.

  • Once he stopped dancing about, he ran hard at good angles and he looked much better. That's all he needs to do. Not sure what BA is telling him to do but I hope it's not run sideways and offload at every tackle.

  • thought he played confused and not sure what his role was going into the match - at that point when we needed no frills straight hard running footy so thought it surprising he came into the match at that point-  thought Stone would’ve been up for it at that point coz hard runningtough  no frills is his talent.

cartwright isn’t the sort of hard working steely honest forward  we normally opt for and in that match it’s exactly what we needed.

not sure if it’s a lack of instruction issue?

  • What gets me about carty is his main issue was defence and his first real test of defence was a one on one miss on clune to lead to a line break and a try to dufty. How can you go all off season and work on your defence and miss a player likr clune one on one. Carty be better suited to the super league where he isn't found out as much.
