Captain Taka

It may not have been noticed by everyone, but today when we were at what i thought was the lowest point of the season to date, Taka got angry. Taka got vocal. Taka stepped up and urged the team on. We have needed an on field captain for some time now. Between Hindy, Hayne & Mannah, we really havent hadan effective leader. Beau Scott was Ok last year but hasn't really brought that to this season. Taka for me showed his true leadership credentials when we most needed a leader. I've seen enough from him to say he is our best choice as captain going forward.

  • Mid second half or so, Taka was lifted by Gutho and Brown putting in BIG-TIME.

  • Wow...big call to make but absolutely agree with what he did in that moment. He really fired a rocket up the team to get the scrum packed.

I like many here have been pretty critical of Taka this year so far but he really stood up today and reminded us of what BA see's in him. He had a good game and in the most part so did the whole backline. It's the forwards that need to have a long hard look at themselves.
  • Taka impressed today
  • Taka turned the game today, at the ground you could see he demanded the ball with about 25 minutes to go and did what was needed to break the line, set up plays and urged the team on. That set the tempo for the win, Corey looks either carrying a small injury or not match fit.

Th first 2 tries were a result of the lack of control in the ruck, something that has been blindingly obvious in the past 4 games, Brown moved to hooker and settle dp that down before Kaysa came back on. Mannah was meh today, the worst of our props, wasn't missed at all when he went off, came back with 9 minutes to go, still very ordinary
  • I've being wondering all year why Taka wasn't our 6. He offers so much more than Guth in the halfs
  • He's not in the best 17 if Moses comes to the club in my opinion.
  • Taka was great but I'll tell you who the next Capt should be...Nathan Brown.
  • He doesn't do it for me. Sorry.
  • Did you pay any attention to Gutho as well.

Brown led with his actions - Taka got angry with Gutho in full support and ORGANISED the rabble.

Now tell me again how stupid it was to put Taka into 5/8.

Simple really - Gutho does not have the experience to take control when Dozey is having a day off.

Taka (like Timmy) is a very under rated player

Not sure I would be calling for him to take the (C) beside his name though - give that to Brown imo.

    • Yes Col, team players through and through. Anyone would swear Gutho and Brown come through the BnG ranks they play with so much passion and consistency like true champs.
And it was good to see Taka fire up when they were dawdling up to set the scrum also. Seemed, mentally more like the Taka of old today.

What about Corey? He was absolutely awful Col. it's not getting any better with him. Doubt even the great Cronk himself, could help Corey out with his current mindset!

Agree it wasnt easy for a player like guth with so little experience in the halves, when our 'dally chance' is performing like he has been, taking no ownership of the match!
