Capewell posts

How good is it being an Eels fan when we are winning, great few weeks and some big changes with the team moving forward. Tepai and Mau moving on surely means we are looking for another backrower I've read a few posts and comments that we are in the race for Kurt Capewell I really hope this is true. He would slot into our #12 in my opinion and I would have him on the left with Brown and move Lane to the right with Moses. Reliable and hard working and I think would explode if given a chance I've followed him since Ipswich Jets and even back then I wanted us to sign him. On another note I feel like Seggy from Broncos should be on our radar seeing that Turpin looks like the perfect 14 with Macca being 9.

  • Not sure we’re after Capewell, Think it was more of we should be interested in him!

  • If it aint broke dont fix it. Leave lane where he is.

  • With Mau and Tepai leaving, it then comes down to where BA & co want to spend most of their spare 2020 cap space and it appears there is heaps of cap space to fill, and we do have a strong batch of excellent 17-19 year old junior forwards coming through but they might not be ready until 2021-2022....

    a) another hooker, 1 or 2 years until Kyle Schneider is ready?

    b) start blooding Kyle next year? For the first two season, Kyle won't impact the cap too much but many skilled eyes and ex SOO reps are predicting Kyle has all the right ingredients to be a NSW SOO hooker and if this happens his value will go through the roof in a few years time.

    c) blood junior backrowers like Fainga'a or go into the market place for players like Capewell or bring through older players like Andrew Davey?

    d) buy another prop or two?

For 2020 we already have confirmed 21 players on our books with another 13 players required before 1st July 2020....

    Fullback: Clinton Gutherson

Wingers: Maika Sivo - Blake Ferguson - Haze Dunster

Centers - Waqa Blake - Ethan Parry

    Half Back: Mitchell Moses

    Five Eighth: Dylan Brown

Utility: Jaeman Salmon - Will Smith

Hooker: Reed Mahoney - Kyle Schneider?

    Lock: Nathan Brown

Second Rowers: Marata Niukore - Shaun Lane - Salesi Fainga'a

Props: Junior Paulo - Kane Evans - Daniel Alvaro - Oregan Kaufusi - Stefano Otoikamanu -

We still have heaps of players currently on our books unsigned for 2020 (please correct me if I'm wrong): Josh Hoffman - David Gower - Peni Terepo - Brad Takairangi - Bevam French - Greg Leleisiuao - George Jennings - Michael Jennings - Ray Stone - Andrew Davey - Matt McIlwrick

Gone: Manu Ma'u - Tepai Moeroa - Tim Mannah?

So who are we buying to fill in the gaps???

  • Capewell may need to bulk up a bit if he's to become a regular 2nd row.sure hes versatile but is he better and more versatile than Taka?

  • I did read today we were interested in Herman Ese’ese Ese’ese
