So after Canberra lost the elimination final yesterday against Newcastle it means that going into next year they will have a 30-year premiership drought with their last title coming in 1994. The thing I have noticed though especially over the last five year is nobody mentions their drought or lack of success since 1994 as opposed to us. I was scrolling through the comments yesterday following the game, not one mention of their now 30-year premiership drought but I can guarantee if we had lost to Newcastle the amount of "37 years of failure" "The drought continues" comments would be plastered everywhere. Why is it that Canberra are immune from having any drought discussions brought up?. Even though our drought is longer I would say we been more proactive in trying to end the drought, we've made three grand finals, they have made just the one, we have two minor premierships (2001 and 2005), they haven't been minor premiers since 1990 I think. We've also been more towards the business end of the finals series in the years we didn't make the grand final, they have a lot of first week exits. I know the media usually like to pick on the team that has the longest drought, I remember when Souths copped it a lot, then it passed onto Cronulla, I just find it a bit funny there isn't a peep from the media whatsoever on this.

Look at the advantages and resources Parramatta have and then look at the Raiders.
Parramatta have had the 2nd largest CBD in NSW behind them
Massive junior nursery
Largest fan base in NSW ( or close to it .
Yet despite having more advantages than any other club in NSW they have not won a thing for 37 years .
The Raiders struggle to recruit players as no one wants to live in the most boring place in Australia
For the same reasons as above they struggle to keep players they develop .
If you have all the advantages in the world and still fail you will always be more heavily criticised than those who fail that don't have the same advantages .
If Parramatta were run by proper people who knew what they were doing over the last 30 years with the same advantages they have had they would be a giant of Australian sport .
If only that 9s title wasn't stripped
It will continue to be like that until we get the monkey off our back.
I belive our drought will last longer than South's drought did.
Souths' draught was 43 years. St Kilda FC haven't won a remiership since 1966 - 57 years. Ours will beat both LOL.
You could very well be right Axel.
What I admire about Raiders they always give it a shot. I love their spirit. I recall once in a final against Manly who knocked the ball on over a metre and the ref didn't see it although I did. Manly scored and went on to win the came about fifteen years ago. Raiders in a GF not long ago I think against Rosters had some things go against them. Three years ago in GF Storm knocked ball on twice and Panthers were penalised insteadv twice. Both lead to trys by Storm they only won by 6 points.
As much as a 37 year dought sux, it isn't really any different to supporting a team which hasn't won a comp in 5-10 years. I would rather be an eels fan for past few years having won plenty of games and played finals, then a tigers or bulldogs fan. Even Newcastle, they had glory 20 years ago but haven't been in finals for years till this year.
Celebrating a premiership over 5years old is like the old cunt down the pub telling stories how he was a legend back in the day. No one gives a shit.
Years since last premiership (from last year)
Parramatta Eels - 36
Canberra Raiders - 28
New Zealand Warriors - 27*
Newcastle Knights - 21
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs - 18
Wests Tigers - 17
Brisbane Broncos - 16
Gold Coast Titans - 15*
St George Illawarra Dragons - 12
Manly Sea Eagles - 11
South Sydney Rabbitohs - 8
North Queensland Cowboys - 7
Cronulla Sharks - 6
Sydney Roosters - 3
Melbourne Storm - 2
Penrith Panthers - 0
*denotes team that never won a comp
Fake midget, what a sad individual you are. No true supporter wants to be among the also rans as we are this year. And watch out for some of those old cunts down the pub, they might just squash you into a schooner glass.
I consider myself personally if you have a drought of more than 18 years, it's a very long drought. Consider Canterbury for example, if you were born in 2004, you have gone through primary school, high school, you are probably at University now, you are old enough to buy a pint, you can vote, you might even have a child of your own. I know a couple of Newcastle fans who are in their early 20s and never seen their team win a premiership. It was a funny a couple of months back this Canterbury fan was online going "Ha Ha Parramatta, 37 year of failure" and I went "When were you born", he goes "2005", obviously he didn't think before typing, he's never seen his team win a premiership either.
who cares ......if im a Canberra fan i wouldnt be benchmaking against the Parramatta Eels. In any case we are nearing 40 years....we have more issues in our own backyard.
