Can we talk about the Knights a moment?

So Im on Timbo Cup throwing my prediction for the ladder and i cant help but notice nearly every single person has predicted Knights to finish in the bottom 3. Fair enough they were wooden spooners but Sharks went from Wooden spooners to genuine title contenders last year on the back of inform halves, an aggressive forward pack and a roster brimming with young talent. I dont think the knights will be AS good as the Sharks were last year but I see alot of potential in them with in my opinion the only real weakness being no decent Hooker and less depth. Lets look at the potential. if Mullen and Hodkinson get some consistency (which for Hodko is a certainty if he doesnt play origin and deal with that pressure) you have a pretty solid backline behnd them with under the radar rookie Jaelen Feeney, Jake Mamo coming into his second year on the Big Stage, throw in some Mata'utia brothers full of potential and two players that can win a game on their day in Dane Gagai and Akuila Uate (the latter needing to find some form and fast if he doesnt want to be dropped). Now minus the size they have a strong and aggressive forward pack with players that in my opinion are just a solid few games short of rep footy, Kade Snowden, Korbin and Tariq Sims and my smokie to shine this year Robbie Rochow. Add the experienced Jeremy Smith and a young and hungry Bench and you have a team that can fight with the best of them. Maybe im crazy but I think Knights will surprise a few of us this year and especially teams that underestimate them.

  • Right now I see 3 distinct groups in the NRL

Cowboys & Broncos as the top 2

Knights, Tigers and Titans as the bottom 3

and the rest could fill any of the positions in between it won't shock me to see as little a 4 pts between 3rd and 13th.

The Knights might with luck and injuries to others move up but I don't see it and to be honest of all the halves who moved clubs while Hodkinson isn't necessarily the worst player he was imo the wrong player for the Knights

  • I cant see them finishing outside the bottom 3 BK, everybody has talent but the competitions so tough you need a hell of a lot of it to have any chance, but you might end up being right.

  • I reckon the biggest unknown with the Knights is their coach.

Based on their squad I reckon they will have to perform above expectation to make the 8. This will come down to what Brown can get out of them in his first year.

I see them as a team that could surprise and hover around the 8, or things could go bad very quickly. They will need alot of luck I reckon.

    • I just hope he gets out there and slaps some faces again. It'd be awesome to see him smack Barrett in the chops again when the Knights play Manly.....
  • The knights are a club full of wankers on and off the field.
Don't think brown and hodgo can sort them out.
You picked a good smokie, if he can stay injury free.
    • I grew up in the Hunter Valley and I can confirm that spewcastle is full of dead shit wankers.
  • Yeah i think i am grasping at straws here but the more i look at them the more i think, they have so many players whose names get thrown into the origin mix every year, all they are missing is that click into gear. Most other teams have more going for them but I cant help but stay Abit longer on the knights, my supercoach team definitely agrees. Call me crazy lads but come back mid year and we will see if im a genius or a fool.
  • Bottom 3 sounds right. I think the Titans last, Tigers 2nd last & Knights 3rd last.
  • I can see them having a lot of upset wins against the top teams, but still not get out of the bottom 4

  • Think they will challenge for minor premiership with Pauli in team. Great buy, probably buy of the year.
