Cayless "IS" our Captain, Said and done. End of story. How the hell, sorry who the hell are you to say crap like that? Peanut! In the last 10 years what do you know he has done for this club apart from the 80 mins you "might" see each week? Answer? sweet f all.
Answer me this billblogs or is it bulldogs??? how many other cluds would have "supporters" say hmmmm (for the kids) stuff like this? Grrrr answer = NIL. Ask any Broncos fan about there number 6 and what would they say?
So much more to the 80min we see each week my
friendPeanut, and untill you see the big picture i think you should go support the dogs.. or any other club as you are not a true PARRA FAN.Don't get upset.....ha that is what this site is for.....................................sharing opinions
On topic, Let me first agree that Cayless has been one of the most lead-by-example, consistent and respected captains in the comp. And yes, his captaining is more than just what he does on the field - look at how the boys lifted when they heard he was fit for the GF last year.... he's an inspiration.
HOWEVER, if we want to win the comp, we need our best team on the field each and every week. We can't keep ANYONE in the side if they underperform just because "the club owes them". That will LOSE us the comp. IMO Cayless has done plenty to start the season as (c) and in the run-on squad, but he should be subject to the same performance regime as the rest of the team - aim up or shift out. We have too much talent and potential in our squad to play a "sentimental" team....
Personally I believe that the captain should be in the starting line-up and of course they need to be performing well enough to be there but if they were starting on the bench it wouldn't be the end of the world, would it? Especially if they have a vice-captain who can step into the role during these times, who should be the next in line when Cayless retires...
I think it would be very disrupting and possibly damaging to team morale if Cayless was to be removed as captain at this late stage of his career, as even though loyalty is in short supply at this time, I am sure it is appreciated by all of the players.
