Can Queensland win at ANZ Stadium

The last time that Queensland won away from Suncorp stadium was the 21st June 2017. In the games since then the only games that they have won have been at Suncorp. NSW have won four games since that including two at ANZ and one at Melbourne and one at Perth.

I think that they are home town bullies and will not be able to get over NSW at ANZ on Wednesday. Go the Blues

  • One things for sure you can never write the bastards off, if they do manage an upset Mitchel Pearce will need a team of psychologists to get over it.

  • I agree, JE. Their forwards are nowhere near close to our pack, especially if Gillett doesn't play. Ponga won't be there, Norman will be and although he's been playing well for Saints I don't know how well he'll go at SOO level. We should get the jump on them again as they have started slow in both of the other games. Even if Kaufusi can shut Pearce down as he did when Melbourne beat Newcastle a few weeks ago Maloney can still wreak enough havoc to keep Qld on the back foot.

Munster moving to fullback may be Qld's biggest hope but I don't know how they can beat us if we don't beat ourselves, which I don't think we will. Go the mighty Blues!

  • NSW by plenty. This is going to get ugly for QLD

    • Yeah, there were some ugly signs for QLD in Perth. This feels like a repeat of 2000.

    • By plenty, good game, but ya didnt win by plenty.

  • Qld have been successful in slowing down the play ball in the first two origin games . NSW counteracted that in game two by giving the ball air.

The only game plan Qld can deploy is to kick early on the third or fourth tackle to the corners and with relentless linespeed ( onside at all times according to the referees ) and have NSW coming out of their end constantly.

if the play the ball is fast Cook and Tedesco destroy them through the middle if NSW have any field position the big outside backs are too powerful.

Qld have to play the perfect game to win NSW don’t but the referees will decide the style in which the games played and that’s what’s wrong with origin and the game itself. Let the players decide the outcome.

    • What must be a real concern for QLD is their sudden lack of depth. Run it back even 5 years ago and they seem to have at least 3 options for every position, now they are reduced to playing Michael Morgan in the centres, Ben Hunt at hooker & Munster at Fullback.

      • Not wrong Brett their hopelessly outgunned outwide. Munster for mine would be the only Qld back to make the NSW side and maybe Ponga at 14. There going to have to fast track some youth in the next few years which can do more harm then good.

When you lack depth in quality forwards trying to bring through a young backline can cause all sorts of problems.

        • The fact that Ethan Lowe is in the 17 as a forward says a lot about their forwards. he is a good clubman but not a SOO forward. He would not make the starting side at the Eels.

    • Yep. Good analysis. If the ref allows fast play the balls then NSW should win easily. Cook and Tedesco will carve up.
