Can Jarryd Hayne win the Dally M?

Tonight the Dally M awards will be judged with Jarryd Hayne sure to go down to the wire with either Jonathan Thurston and/or Jamie Soward for the top honours. With Hayne likely to have taken 3 or 2 points in all of the Eels seven winning games, he stands a great chance of overhauling Thurston who was ten points in front when the judging went silent. Soward is also a chance, having had a strong year however the Dragons late-season form slump may have cost him his slump. The Eel's Daniel Mortimer looks even more likely to pick up a gong, with him heavily favoured to take home the Rookie of the Year award. Fuifui Moimoi must also be an outside chance for prop.1Eyed Eel's Tips for Dally M WinnerFullback: Jarryd HayneWinger: Brett MorrisCentre: Greg InglisFive-eighth: Jamie SowardHalf-back: Jonathan ThurstonLock: Paul GallenSecond-row: Anthony WatmoughProp: Fuifui MoimoiHooker: Michael EnnisRookie Daniel MortimerCoach: Wayne Bennett

  • fullback: jarryd hayne
    winger: taniela tuaki
    center: michael jennings
    five eight: jamie soward
    halfback : jeff robson

And yer i think thurston will win it cause of the shitload of votes he would of got through the whole of the year
    lock:todd lowrie
    second row :anthony fagmough
    prop: justin poore
    hooker: robbie farah
    rookie: daniel mortimer
    coach: kevin moore
  • Kevin Moore will win coach for sure, they were wooden spooners last season and almost won the minor premiership!!
  • I reckon the Dog's coach would be a good chance to beat out Wayne. Big turn around for them.

Jarryd's probably left his run way too late for the Dally M, he should be top 5 though. I'd be tipping Soward to take it.

Justin Poore will probably get the prop gong, other than that the rest of your tips look pretty good.
  • I agree with 1eyed except for.. Prop- Weyman, Lock- Dallas Johnson, Coach-Kevin Moore
    • I'm very biased with Fuifi - Weyman is definitely favourite and I would have no issue with him getting it.

Hate that I had to tip Gallen, but he would have got a lot of points just because noone else in the Sharks was any good.

You're all probably right about Kevin Moore as well. However, I think the Dragons have just been the best coached team. I put the majority of the Dogs turnaround to their recruitment and the influence of those players they've brought in. My reasoning with Bennett is he got a far superior result with pretty much the same group of players - to me thats the mark of a class coach.
      • Yeah, thats a very good point about Bennett.
  • Quick question- are the best player in each position/rookie of the year decided on actual Dally M points earned?

If so i think Morts would have rapped it up, however Dugan/Locke are the real stars who debuted this season. If they were at just about any other clubs they would have recieved much greater attention. Once Dugan puts a bit more beef on he imo will be in the top 5 players in the game. Locke is just a freakish kid and he just needs to mature a bit and will be a gun also.

As much as i love Morts, I honeslty could never see him being a superstar. He is a realy old-school style player (lol actually reminds me of finch) and im sure he will play 1st grade for a long time, i just don't believe he has the natural talent of alot of the other players coming through. Saying that however, the impact he has made at our club he definetely deserves to take out the award tonight.

    My tips

    Fullback: Hayne
    Winger: Tuiaki
    Centre: J.Morris
    Five-eigth: Soward
    Halfback: Thurston
    Lock: Stagg
    Second-Row: Creagh
Prop: M. Scott (had to throw a roughie in)
    Hooker: Ennis
    Rookie: Mortimer
    Coach: Moore
    • No, I don't think those awards are done solely on points, but I think they heavily influence the decisions
    • are you high i definately see mortimer as a superstar as he is turning into one right now
      • What makes you think he'll become a superstar mate?

I'm all ears on your opinion..
