I honestly cant believe he took centre stage here and held the trophy up, you would think he might have stood back and let the guys who put in the blood sweat and tears hold the cup aloft, im starting to to have second thoughts on Jarryd.
Hold on now there Boys, I actually watched the whole thing live.
What happened was just before this photo was taken, Fiji 7's Captain was about to raise the World Series Trophy in the centre there when he stopped & asked the team where Jarryd was but was found at rear far left hiding behind one of the other big boys and was dobbed in & reluctantly dragged into the middle as you see there but being one of the youngest, newest and a rookie, he does what he's told as per Fijian Culture.
So what you see there is injured star forward Pio Tuwai and Hayne holding the cup being initially announced as overrall World Series 7's Champions.
Speaking to some of my Fijian mates earlier today, reason why is twofold, Firstly, its a slight dig/islander humour that you barely played but you've got a winners medal but Secondly, the fact the team were truly humbled that someone of Jarryd's stature would choose to play with them which why the Fiji Captain gave up his spot for Jarryd in the initial photo to a gesture of honour & thanks which you avid sports fans know, correct me if I'm wrong, no Captain in any sport does.
Does it mean he's on the plane to Rio? After what I saw over the weekend especially his technical understanding of the game and aerobic fitness, highly unlikely but then again, there were those who said he'd never play EVEN 1 game of NFL too before he got to the Niners... time will tell.
Well, in that case, I m with u boys.. Should of been up the back for sure.. These boys are incredible athletes in their own right and deserve all the credit that hopefully comes their way
Nonetheless.. Bring him home
Watched it live, before the photo was taken, Jarryd was hiding up back behind one of them big forwards til the Captain and other players dragged him there to the centre so he reluctantly stayed there being its Fijian Culture to respect your elders.
"Love this one, I think we will use this design and the captains run short from this season to refresh our Home jersey for 2027. We will also have a new away too, hopefully Adidas have a look at us and produce something very special. "

Agree! LOL
I thought you were joking Ron until I saw this. Wow, he was front row and center lifting it.

Fijians are very humble, so I believe Hayne still has a lot to learn about his families culture.
Step back Jarryd and let those who actually played all year take the glory and adulation.
