BURT ON TOUR?

Rocketrod - has come up with a great statement , we all know luke burts skill and goal kicking abilities ,He is reliable and can play both wing and fullback as well as fill in missing gaps . I for oneagree that selection for him to tour would be a just reward for the many years of excitementhe has given fans , and the speed of him hasnt changed he can run almost anyone down.WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ?

  • i have thought for years that he has deserved a chance at rep level ,but unfortunately the selectors have never seemed to agree ,he hasnt ever even got a run in city v country. He wouldnt let anyone down if selected to tour!
  • Apart from Jarryd Hayne, I reckon the only other player on our backline who is a chance to tour will be Joel Reddy. Has good utility value in that he is as good a winger as he is a centre (and fullback, not that he'd ever get a look in there at rep level). Very good defensively as we all know.

If there weren't so many good back-rowers running around, I'd almost nominate Ben Smith as a chance too, but just can't see that happening this soon in to his new second-row career.
  • Unfortunately for Burtie, rep selectors love big outside backs, now that the game is dominated to such an extent by cross-field kicks for giants to catch. Same with carries back from kicks. Shame for him, he'd not be out of place at al..

Similar to Hazem in terms of how he's thought of at rep level.

"Yep, that's a recipe for disaster.  With no brown next year we're a high chance of spoonville. Cant see Mitch waiting out  his prime to see if we come good. We need to turn it around fast or we'll be stuck in the doldrums for a few years. "
