Burt keen to stay with the Eels

LUKE Burt, the second highest try-scorer in Parramatta's club history, wants to remain an Eel beyond 2010 and is keen to sort out his future before the start of next season.Burt comes off contract at season's end and, with big deals offered to younger teammates Jarryd Hayne and Daniel Mortimer, is unsure whether his 12th year at the club will be his last.Just 10 tries shy of Brett Kenny's 110 career haul, Burt is not interested in the English Super League and hopes to sit down with coach Daniel Anderson and officials over the coming weeks."There are no plans at the moment but I would love to stay put,'' Burt said. "It's just a matter of whether there's any money for me in 2011. I haven't sat down with Daniel [Anderson] but hopefully I'll know what I can do or where I'll go in the new year. I've got a young family so I'd love to have something sorted before kick-off."I still think I've got three or four good years left in me in the NRL. If I can train and play well it might make the club's decision easier.''Hayne is still to formalise his new deal with the Eels and speculation continues over the young star joining the AFL's new Greater Western Sydney franchise on a five-year, $7.5million deal. While it is highly unlikely the Dally M player of the year will switch codes, an AFL defection by Hayne could pave the way for Burt to re-sign. But Burt is not holding his breath and knows Hayne can help deliver Parramatta an overdue premiership.http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/burt-keen-to-stay-with-the-eels/story-e6frexnr-1225809198084

  • Luke Burt is becoming a better footballer with age. worth taking a long term punt, i would rather sign him to a long term deal than Fui.
