Ha not a bad idea mate.
Two leading players with the Parramatta Rugby League team will appear in Parramatta Local Court on May 12 to face charges of conspiracy to cheat and defraud.
Eric Grothe, 27, of Liverpool, and Paul Mares, 24, of Baulkham Hills, were arrested on Monday by Castle Hill detectives investigating the alleged theft of Grothe's 1981 Ford Falcon valued at $10,900.
Police said the Fire Brigade had gone to Taylors Road, West Pennant Hills, on Thursday night to extinguish a fire in the car, which they said had been doused with petrol.
Grothe had reported the car missing to Parramatta police.
Another attempt was made to burn the car the next day.
It was again doused with petrol and a firebomb thrown at it.
The firebomb is alleged to have bounced off and was extinguished when another car ran over it.
Grothe and Mares were released on bail."
