My question is, were St George Illawarra (Tyson Frizell) and the other 15 teams also given the brief about the crackdown before their respective games?

You can't help but draw the conclusion this latest "crackdown" was the only reason Frizell was cited in the first place.

"We were briefed about it during the week, that is the rule. You can't touch the referee and he touched the referee," Canterbury's Moses Mbye said on Tuesday.

In contrast, Bulldogs five-eighth Josh Reynolds has escaped suspension after taking the early guilty plea for a tripping charge that denied Dragons second-rower Joel Thompson a try in the same game.

"The trip was worth it, Unfortunately the old trip or whatever it was, it saved us a try in the end. So it was worth it, wasn't it? Mbye said.

The whole governing body is a joke and ruined this game.

  • It would be interesting if 1 player from every team went out and tripped someone during their game. :)

  • If an eels player tripped an opponent in the process of scoring a try. It would be a penalty try, the player would be sent from the field and then face suspension.
    • ..and it would be front page of the Tele for a few days.

Then there would be an inquiry as to why he did it..drugs?

They would then dig up something he did four years ago from social media, then would wash him and hang him out to dry.

  • How many times is reynolds going to be let off for tripping, its a low act, even in the old hard days of RL that is a send off offence and really looked down on.

Junior gets 9 weeks for a dangerous throw and reynolds gets off week after week with tripping, the consistency is a complete joke, imbeciles are in charge of the game.

    • Sterlo said, in his era the three worst things that a player could do was eye-gouge, trip and bite.

Oh, how the game has changed.

    • Exactly Snake and Bert can't get over the little grub getting away with that in the game. Then got super excited when he was cited thinking he has been pinged for that a few times. Thought he woulda copped weeks as a repeat offender.
      Can't work it out.
  • Theres not a bigger grub in the comp than Reynolds, massive Cat

    • Problem is Snake, with the no punch rule no one can iron this little prick out.

He wouldn't last 5 minutes in the old days, add the likes of Ennis and Fifita to that list.

  • Bert one of my uncles was tripped in a game of union when he was a young bloke, he got a shocking compound break in his leg, never played footy again and it pretty much fucked his leg for life with nerve damage, its a catty thing to do.

  • Couldn't agree more.
On Saturday morning I watched a game from 89, the last 10 mins of Parra and Balmain now that was game Kenny sent off eels hang on for a 18-16 win. The likes of Reynolds and co wouldn't last 30 seconds

"Need way more than that, majority of the players signed would be their depth. Even that is rubbish. As Johnny mentioned too, juniors will be hard to come by.
Look at their last two signings. Sorensen and Talakai. Sorensen is a fine signing for…"

"Precisely. Just makes me think someone at NRL HQ - and we all know who - got a very large suitcase of cash from the WA state government for agreeing to this. "
