I think you've both hit it pretty accurately, unfortunately Ryles is will be the one who cops it from the media and (most) fans as to the teams performance.
BA had the early luxury during his tenure of Spag-gate, then some moderate success with the top 8 and single GF appearance and after one season out of the top 8 was booted mid-season. Ryles has done a great job with what he has to work with both on and off the field - could be why he is persisting with Joash 5/8, knowing he can't get the type/quality of player he knows he needs. Not risking Hawkins as a backup 7 on the higher than average probablity that Moses goes down again. Thats not a shot at Moses, but some of his injuries have a higher likelihood or reoccuring and if Hawkins is injured playing 5/8 and Moses is injured, we're well and truly cooked.
For a mostly inexperienced side, we're doing well, but its a competition and more than half the comp have it together or at least can address their shortcomings and hire to fill gaps, while we persist with what is barely a pass mark.
The other side is Ginnane's interpretation where he thought it was more a shot at the media, not the club... It can be both, right?
You may be on to something there Serapy, Moses wore calf socks for protection last week and failed to train on Tuesday.....this site will go ballistic if Moses is out injured this week.
