If he is motivated, and gets his head right, he could be good for us. He is a big guy with ball skillls, like his uncle, and is quite quick for a big guy. He has been training with Mark Carrol, who seems to be pleased with him, so the ball is in his court. I hope he goes well.
Maybe you are the one with the low IQ. Cartwright actually can be a very good footballer. Mental issues plus bad knee's will only be his downfall but I think now being back in Sydney he will go alright. Sadly we can't have a team of superstars like others.

That doesn't mean you sign whatevers on the market.
At his best 5 years ago he was a young Feleti Mateo who you imagined getting better and sorting out deficiencies in his game. He has gone backwards, his body has got worse and his attitude at the Titans sucked. The bloke made business decisions to get out of the way instead of make tackles. There are better guys toiling away you could sign on the minimum.
It's all about team balance. You can have a couple of rocks or diamonds players with game breaking ability provided the effort areas are non negotiables. We have a bunch of rocks or diamonds players punted from other clubs for providing too many rocks, and now add this guy who negotiates on effort from week to week. Theres gonna be some good moments mixed in with a lot of bad. We need to be better.
He is on a low paying contract, if he plays to the ability he can then it's a great buy. If he fades away then who cares. It's a low risk buy for a chance of getting a good player. I've got Alot right in the past and think there is something brewing with Cartwright.
It's not about just buying anyone, it's about buying players that are going to work together and build a solid squad.

"Coryn i would say stop beating a dead horse but it is so obvious it is insane. The amount of talent that cannot make it in Union. Even Fiji they do not have the resources to develop players or the money to offer them. They would jump at a minimum…"

He's on minimum wage for one year ,,,, What have we got to lose?
I know, should have gone for Lee Mossop
Because BA backs his ability to bring the best out in lazy inconsistent low IQ players....
and then walks into every 2nd press conference wondering why we were out enthused and played dumb.
