Brown to centre argument

I understand why people are suggesting Brown move to centre, hes a good runner, excellent defender and can pass to his winger. Though if you are happy to pay 700k (don't believe me, his salary is on zero tackle) to centre that has never played the position before be my guest. That is why the club would never do it either, too much money on a position that is not as important as the spine and a player who has never played there.

I am not against the idea of him playing centre, though cut his salary first then consider it is all i say.

  • Whilst I agree Brown would make a good centre i still believe he has the talent to be a good half, moving him to centre would be a complete waste of time as he would get better offers to go play in the halves at other clubs and he would leave anyway. Don't kid yourself that other clubs wouldn't be prepared to offer him good money to play in the halves, they would.

    • BA has really let Dylan down, his game has gone backwards instead of developing. Look what Bellamy has done with Hughes, he'd turn Brown into the next Lockyer.

  • I think it's more the frustration that he sits on the right side all game and does fark all, hence move him to centre now to improve the defence and offense, until he or BA piss off, it's a waste of 700k anyway.

    • Yeah but rather waste 700k on a five-eighth as you pay five-eighths that money, rarely you pay centres that type of money so I can forgive wasting it on a position that demands that money

  • Find or bring in a young fullback and move Gutho to centre then have Gutho and Brown swap around much like a Kenny and zip zip did on occasions.

In saying that there are not many better cover defenders for saving tries then Gutho.

Or Maybe Gutho just needs to link with the backline more often and create the pass to the winger. But to do the inside man need to run more direct instead of sideways so there is room.

  • The money is irrelevant at this point. They have the roster they have for the rest of the year and they need to make some changes. It may be a great solution or it may fail miserably but at least it is trying something different. Something BA has never done.

If a new coach comes in then sure give him another crack in the halves. At least at that point they will know whether centre position is a good fall back for him if he doesn't perform.

    • ^^^ THIS
He came into grade as a playmaker phenom. The first game he ever played took Joey John's breath away. He is a natural. BA has coached him into being a robot.
Now he looks confused. He needs a new voice that isn't BA saying CHASE THE COLLISION.

I'm sorry Brad, but we need more than just "chase the collision".

Oregon chased the collision... and it didn't work out so well for him.

      • I agree. The coaching is the problem and there will be more of the same until the coaching -  trainer issue is resolved

        • Same from me, I can't believe people want him moved into the centres or worse gone altogether.

  • LOL.... so it must be true if if it's on Zero Tackle. LB are you ok????
