Bronson Xerri free to negotiate in 3 months

According to the Malta Rugby League page:

XERRI RETURN TO THE TOP

Former Sharks superstar, 21-year-old Bronson Xerri is free to negotiate a return to the NRL in just three months.

After returning from a four-year ban, it is understood that several clubs have an interest in the Maltese eligible outside back.

Open for a possible return in 2024, Xerri would be a gun signing if he is to regain his prior explosive speed that was on display in his unforgettable debut, scoring a hat trick in a 22-9 win over the Dragons.

Best of luck Bronson.

  • I mean he is talented, plays Centre (to which we might need one with Blake being a better winger and Opacic leaving), would be cheap as a prove it deal for a year or two and young still.

He had talent to be an Origin player.

    • And we are lacking a strike centre so this could be the answer unless what I'm hearing about him being big enough to play in the front row nowadays (not sure about the validity of those claims)

  • Yes yes yes.
Wouldn't cost alot of $$$ and could be a weapon.

    • Look at Danny Wicks when we brought him back, granted Wicks did way worse than Xerri but came back and was a wonderful player for us. Xerri would come to us much younger and come to a great environment.

  • He has bulked up.

That alone will have reduced his speed. Without the drugs he will have lost more speed.

Maybe a transition into the 2nd row?

    • Steroids aside, it's pretty normal for a chap his age to be bulking up.

I reckon he has enough natural talent to make it in the centres.

    • Didn't know he was in speed aswell

    • Bulk doesn't naturally reduce speed. A poor power to weight ratio does. In this day and age, if a player can maintain their power to weight ratio they can put on lean muscle mass without it impacting speed. Xerri obviously isn't footy training at the moment but once he gets back into it he'd probably drop some muscle mass anyway.

    • I wouldn't trust gym selfies. Lighting and a pump can make someone look a lot bigger than they actually are.
