  • Eels by 24+

  • Considering our attacking ability has gone off the boil, I'd say we will win by 8.
If we keep Broncos scoreless, then I'll be a lilttke less concerned about our inability to score points

    • Brax, I think people are reading too much into the trial attacking performance. Attack comes from forwards effort in laying a platform giving the halves room.

Now in a trial, no forward is going to put in 100% effort on each run therefore minimal attacking room apart from individual efforts.  Let's see what happens against the Broncos.

      • Mate, it's more to do with how we dropped off in the 2nd half of last season...yes I realise it's a new season, but there just seems to be something stopping out attack. It's clunky, not smooth and effective

        • There wasn't really any effective attack at all and its been like this at the Eels for quite awhile. The last time the Eels were a good attacking side was under Brian Smith coaching.

          • Sweeping exaggeration, Monto. Although it was for only half the season in 2009 our attacking form was great during that run to the GF.

We have played great attacking football under BA as well. Saying we haven't is just not true.

            • That back end run into the 09 semis was some of the best attacking football Ive seen in any season and any era. Scintillating stuff.

            • True, 2009 was a great display of attack by the Eels who was then coached by Daniel Anderson. The difference being that the 2009 team relied heavily on Haynes natural talent whereas the Brian Smith teams were more of a whole team performance especially in 2001 when they should have won the premiership. I thought personally that they should have kept Daniel Anderson for at least a couple more years but it wasn't to be.

                • Sure I remember the first half of 2020 but I also remember the 2nd half too. In your opinion Grunta is BA more of a defensive or attacking style coach?

                    • Allowed in the game plan doesn't make sense. The game plan should always be comprised of both attack and defence in every game regardless of the opposition. I think part of BA's issues are he overemphasises too much on the defence at the expense of attack.
