Broncos lose McCullough for season

McCullough confirming that he will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

McCullough was a victim of friendly fire in Friday night's loss to the Parramatta Eels when teammate Adam Blair crashed into his leg while making a tackle, the 27-year-old confirming on Instagram on Sunday that he will require knee surgery on Friday that will end his 2017 campaign.

McCullough left the field in the 69th minute on Friday and although Ben Hunt shifted into hooker as Benji Marshall was introduced from the bench, the No.9 duties are now likely to fall to utility Kodi Nikorima who has spent most of the year playing halfback.

The Broncos will train at their Red Hill headquarters on Monday ahead of their clash with the Titans on the Gold Coast next Saturd

  • I don't even think Jennings would have scored when Blair took him out illegally and ruined McCullough's knee in the process . What a dope.
    • Wouldn't it be a hoot if he was charged for it...
  • Great news for us and might come in very very handy if we have to meet them in the finals, will come in handy in the last game too, they will struggle big time without him.

  • Strike a line through the Broncos. They can not win the Comp without McCullough. Poor tough bugger, medial torn off the bone & ACL done as well.
  • They only have dirty Blair to blame. Dog act and karma!
  • The picture is of him looking back at Blair .
  • Wouldn't be writing the Broncos of yet nikorima is a good replacement he might turn out the be better
  • Huge out for them. He makes a huge amount of tackles and gives good service. I know these blokes are living the dream and a few injuries are part of that, but I still feel sorry for players who get injured late in the season. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

"I'm not suggesting throwing Lorenzo or any other young player in there now, they aren't ready, my point is they still won't be ready for a start in 2027 either so are we going to sign another 1 year stop gap 6 for 2027?."

"Thanks KN/ EA. Just checking my gut feeling. Hopefully, he stays & makes good on his potential. I like his upside: footy nous, big body, kicking game, goal-kicker. Ain't many sixes offering all that. He's called by many in RU as a "Sua'ali'i clone…"
