Police have reportedly arrested a Brisbane Broncos Origin star on charges of alleged domestic violence.

A star for the Broncos, Selwyn Cobbo has reportedly been arrested by police but is yet to be formally charged, per 9News Queensland.

It is understood that NRL integrity unit is aware of the alleged matter and is investigating it.

"Police were called to Moorooka yesterday to speak to Broncos centre Selwyn Cobbo," 9News Queensland journalist Cam Inglis said.

"9News has been told by police that it was in relation to a domestic violence matter.

"9News understands (that) Cobbo was arrested but is not being formally charged. He appeared briefly here at Red Hill this morning with his teammates before departing the facility.

"9News understands that the Broncos management were only told about the matter this morning. They're expected to release a statement later this afternoon.

"The NRL's Integrity Unit is aware of the matter and is investigating (at) this stage. No action has been taken against Cobbo but it's unsure if his place in the side is in jeopardy for this weekend."

The 22-year-old has been a star of the Broncos since his debut in 2021 and has gone on to score 42 tries in 65 matches so far this season.

Transitioning into the centres from the wing ahead of this season, Cobbo's good form saw him return to the State of Origin arena for Games 1 and 3 of the 2024 State of Origin series.

He has also represented the Australian Kangaroos, Indigenous All Stars and Prime Minister's XIII.

The Brisbane Broncos will take on inner-state rivals the Gold Coast Titans this Saturday before facing the Cowboys, Eels, Dolphins, and Storm next month.

It is a must-win for the Broncos this weekend due to them sitting in 13th place on the NRL ladder and two wins behind the eight-placed Dolphins.

  • It's getting worse for the broncos. I said at the start of the year they won't make the 8. To choke the way they did in the grand final it's something they just haven't gotten over. Now this that's the final nail in the coffin.

  • Ploppa will be beside himself. Everyone of these boys he takes a shining too end up in jail.

    • Well lets hope your not on the jury Wizzer, looks like you have him guilty already.

Keep in mind he hasn't been charged yet.....also remember long memories and you taking the same slant on Semi Ramrada before it was found out that he was set up by his partner. That one alone would have cost us a minimum of one premiership!

Me thinks you are bit too eager to bring down Ploppa when he has been giving you such a hiding in the integrity stakes recently.....lets hope you do not get set up and have some loudmouth on social media convict you before the "first ball is bowled".

PS I would not know if he was innocent or not but would never be so presumptious to say he will end up in jail or it will be the final nail in the coffin before the poor bastard is actually charged. Even if he is, there is a lot of water to pass under the bridge before we get to those conclusions.

        • Yeh! your probably right because I am pretty sure that Wiz believes has never been wrong..... well at least that he admits to!

Hang on there was that time when, and another time when......shit has he ever been right?

I'm going to cancel my sleepovers!

          • Hey I didn't say he was guilty or not, just that you'd be beside yourself as the boys you take a shining to end up in jail. You put the mockers on poor Sambow with your love for him.  You really need to stay away from Cherbourg.

  • Yet another Cherbourg resident. Similar thing happened with Chris Sandow. Both from tiny community of Cherbourg near Murgon. Not a great advertisement for the tiny community

    • Careful CE, you come from Camel Country and that is not actually a Metropolis and we have all heard what happens to those camels when they are not racing! Just the same all the honest hard working people of Cherbourg will be looking at each other differently after reading your post...........social media is a real bastard isn't it.

      • Plenty of camels, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, pigs, geese, crows, cows, bulls, mules, emus, and much more around and within Cherbourg Poppa.

        • How do you feel making yourself judge and jury over this kid and sandow CE

          • Not as bad as you probably feel being judge and jury over 1eyed Eel supporters comments. 😉
