  • AOB won't last long, smart move

    • Do you think B.Mc. was ever really being considered by the Parra board or showed interest with coaching the Eels?

      • My deep seated suspicion is the board never really seriously considered McDermott, maybe as a passing thought. I suspect after they lost Bennett in the secret treasure hunt, a new Modern young brand was already in the makings of plan B.

      • I think he can see Newcastle will be his soon, with Blake green as his assistant. AOB been there a fair while and team has accomplished nothing. If they miss the 8 he's prob finished

  • Yep, my worst fears and suspicions are realised.

We're going for the tantalizing rookie solution. The Modern Way in a Young, hot Barbie World.

The Ciraldo solution. Webster. Payton. But not Benji or Kearney; we aren't Tigertown yet.

Problem is we don't have Gus or Mr Laundry behind us. Or their translation of juniors. Or the Cows business behind us to build a Origin littered roster. Or a billionaire board of Souths or Roosters to buy their way out of trouble. The Warriors are up and down, and have the largest nursery, size wise, in the world - a country - that everyone wants a piece of. They produce big and fast. We have a huge nursery producing silverware that doesn't translate into NRL, first grade.

We could be heading closer to Tigertown (but not as bad, probably) than the Dogs over the next few years unless we are very lucky with recruits (Lomax) or our junior superstars become NRL stars.

    • Bit of a prophet of doom there Hell on Eels! But the comparison you make with other clubs justifiies your assessment.  Do you think the Parra board will accept a 3 year build, say, or are they after a different approach?  Will Parra fans be patient enough to go through the rebuild years which will inevitably bring inconsistent performances by the team week by week?

The other point is whoever the coach will be, to what extent is he going  to attract new players to the club, say for 2025, assuming a new approach is expected (hence requiring BA's sacking).  That should be a factor in the decision of the board to appoint the new head coach.

      • LOL Yeah, Six again. You're right. Also, I doubt we'll be patient after an almost 40-year drought. Bottom line, no matter how much we rave or ventilate here, what choice do we have? It's largely out of our control.

    • HOE let's look at how smart the eels board are . Recently the best recruitment man in the game Peter O'Sullivan was a free agent , how invaluable would someone like him be to Parramatta ?

While other clubs were courting Peter,  the shit for brain flops at Parramatta were interviewing a absolute bum of a coach in Jason Demetriou, the fact they even entertained the idea of interviewing JD is a embarrassment and a investigation should be held as to why these people are still in charge .

While ever we have the useless people  who are on the leagues club board and football club board Parramatta has zero hope.

      • Frankie,

Peter O'Sullivan is desperately what we need right now, as we are on the precipice of a rebuild. If we're not terribly lucky, we'll be in real trouble soon.

The thing is, if you study the 2019 rebuild - almost all of the new recruits and additions were signed and sealed under Gurr. He is the unheralded hero that founded the 2019-22 winning cycle now in decline.

McDermott was are only choice left (now gone) who has a record of building resilience and backbone. He would have struggled too, tbh. We're dont really have a culture of resilience at NRL level. We're more razzle-dazzle-offloaders who need a bit of luck and things to go their way.

Honestly, I'll be tempted to just switch off like I did in 2018 when I barely watched us for the first time in almost 40 years. I'll come back from the cave eventually.

        • O'Sullivan also going to Newcastle lol. He's leaving dolphins
