  • Can you explain why is he hopeless?
  • Not again.... this dead horse has been flogged to death! There aren't any bones left for the vultures anymore.

Hey, I know you are a new member, WELCOME, but this is how it will pan out.

There are going to be MK bashers singing you praises. MK lovers that will get quite agitated. We may even have fighting amongst our members. We certainly will have preachers telling everybody else not to preach! There will also be fair comments of please explain why they are sh*t!

Sorry to bust your chops, but there have been about a dozen anti Oake and MK blogs in the last 2 weeks.

    Again, welcome!
  • Yeah i pretty much agree but we need to give Oake some decent time to develop with 1st grade experience behind him. We have a big name forward pack so you need a no name in there somewhere... as long as he's consistant and does not make mistakes let him do his job and let our big boys do the hard yakka.
We should have picked Kingston in front of Keating but DA believes he can do the job needed so lets just give it about 5 more matches before we start the stonings... as per usual
  • well said Johno, i agree... so will many many others.

    Sorry Damian

Ohh AND OAK, IS ACTUALLY OAKE... Need to get your home teams players spelling right
  • Not going to comment on Matt Keating - I think everyone, including his most ardent supporters - will acknowledge he has to pick up the organising aspect of his game.

Oake - you don't tend to notice him during a game to be honest because he is pretty Joe average. Not a terrible player though.
  • I believe this Pele guy should get a go in front of Oake and matt keating needs to be quicker out of dummy half. His brother could even get a start in front of him. i think he lacks creativity and awareness. Oake just has no impact? he dosent make many tackles and isnt effective in attack.. thats my opinion.. go parra =)
  • Looks like there are some people here who need to join my new campaign.

The player I am dedicating my year to is Brendan Oake. The motto is 'Oakey Dokey' and we even have a song 'you do the Oakey Dokey and you turn around... that's what it's all about!'

So he is a bit of an underdog - that just means he needs extra love and support. My big predicition is that he will be this years Todd '3 Dally M Points' Lowrie - and we all remember what a hero he was!! :-)
  • I've heard a couple of people suggesting to throw big pele in and besides being no more experienced than oakey, what position would he play ? Do you want him to play second rower even though he's a prop, or for someone (e.g. cayless) to be shifted to the second row and he take their place ?

I've got no real interest in a verbal slapfight over whose better or who should be playing, it's Ando's decision and the coach knows whats best, i just want to know what positional change are we suggesting for pele.

(By the way this is 'Fui Fui', i didn't realise my brother 'Sparx' had signed in)
  • I was actually one person who couldn't believe how shithouse Lowrie was playing before he came good. I had seen him play for Newcastle and he looked pretty good - had an offload and a pass before the line in his game and he hit hard.

I haven't seen that sort of promise in Oake yet but we'll see!
  • I'm sure Pele will get his chance, come rep season and as injuries crop up. We're going to need all our forward depth there is no need to rush the less experienced blokes.

I think it's important to recognise you don't need devastating impact from EVERY player on the team. You only get six tackles in every set and you want your top carriers to have their hands on the ball most of the time. In a typical set you're fullback is the first tackle, your winger the second tackle, another dummy half run from the hooker or centre, one prop hit up, one second row hit up and kick. Realistically every side carries four or five high impact players and you want them to carry the ball as much as possible. Do I want Brendan Oake to be carrying the ball up when I've got Fuifui ready to charge onto the ball. No, I just want Oake to do his job for 25 mins, not miss any tackles or make any mistakes. Balance is the key to every side and throwing Pele in would suddenly give the pack mobility issues. Surely you're not suggesting you want Poore, Mannah and Pele all on the field together? Oake played ok and he'll get better as he gets used to NRL pace again.
